I would trade both for Ballard in an instant. For Tyutin I might try to get something extra.

What do you think of Ballard and Tyutin? Don't like their game much?

Maybe I over value both Gilbert and Cogliano - but I think we could do much better.

Ballard - Yeah he's great and I'd love to have him - but again, I'd much rather we go for a goal scorer.
Tyutin - I look at his cap hit and say to myself, I would much rather throw in one of our prospects. I don't think he brings much more than what we already have.

Cogs reminds me of todd marchant and the oilers need to remind themselves of that and make him the third line center or something. The problem is the oilers don't have the line metes for him. Moreau is done, stortini is a 4th liner it is tough to figure out just who would be good fit with cogs

He better not ask for a trade--atleast not publically. That would hurt Tambellini's chances of maximizing his value in a trade, and I'm hoping he is dealt--possibly with someone like Gilbert--for someone who would be an upgrade on the forward lines.

Considering Chicago would have to shed salary, I wonder if they would have interest in a Sharp for Cogliano deal. Sharp isn't that big but he is gritty and goes into the hard areas to make a play. I think he would be a great option behind Penner on the LW if we can't land Kovalchuk.

We're definitely not getting Kovalchuk.

Sharp would be a great and realistic option to go after.

Sharp is not realistic - great cap hit and produces on the first line - No way Chicago would rid him. They need to shed Bolland but will shed one of their dmen.

I third this idea. I think Sharp is very under-rated.

Why not Kovy? You think he'll resign with ATL? We defintely have the assets to make the trade, I just hope we can get healthy enough to be in a playoff position come trade deadline. Hopefully Bulin and Grebs will whisper a lil something somethin in Kovy's ear during the Olympics.

Does anyone know if Sharp has a ntc? I would think the Hawks might try to unload Campbell. If the Rags can unload Gomez, it may be possible.

No he doesn't, there was talk at the draft of a possible deal between the leafs and hawks involving Kaberle and Sharp. I remember the MSM talking about Kaberle's no trade clause but they never mentioned Sharp had one. That's all I got.

Cogs has to be unhappy!

I totally agree - how can Cogs be happy in such a system?! He is capable of so much more and just isn't being utilized the way he shoul dbe. And how on earth is he supposed to produce with line mates such as Stortini and Moreau?! They don't have the speed to match his, or the skills.

Gagner played with those players and he was able to score while playing with them.

Is it just me or is Cogs the only one struggling from the rumour trade for Heatley. It seems both Smid and Pens have been playing really well but Cogs to me seems to be struggling.

He is not playing in a position to succeed. I like the guy but right now he doesn't fit anywhere.

Gagner played with those players for two games....Cogs has been with them for almost 2 years. This is his second season playing with those players. He has proven his worth as a player. Also Cogs doesn't get as many minutes as Gagner, nor has he always played on the power play, so his chances of scoring are automatically less.

Not to be harsh, but the only reason he isn't higher up the depth chart is because he is not really what the Oilers need. The only thing he has going for him is his speed and some finishing ability. The problem is he is not using his speed well and he is too small. He gets knocked off the puck far too easy and is unable to get into a good scoring position.

If the Oilers can package him and Gilbert and turn them into something worthwhile, they should.

It sure wasn't Stortini and Moreau. That's for sure.

Sharp is among the top ten two way players in the league. He plays either centre or wing, is great at EV and PK and PP.

Almost a PPG, plus 5 and makes $3.9M a year through 2012. (Horcough!)
