Naaaah, we've already had the pleasure of watching him suit up in blue and orange in somewhat unspectacular fashion. It makes little sense acquiring a 6/7 32-year old dman and coughing up a pick. It makes much more sense for the spot to be filled by a call-up, and in the outside chance Snow wants to go out and acquire a d-man, it's not going to be Sopel.
Sopel is garbage. Not only that, but he was clearly unhappy here and made some less than professional comments after Milbury dumped him on LA. He's right next to Dale Hunter on the list of players I'd like to see as Isles.
I dont know why people think we would ever want this guy back. Not only was he horrible here, but he had nothing good to say about NY when he was moved to LA. I wouldnt take Sopel for free, let alone wasting a draft pick on this guy. He's not a good player.
a) Sopel left on bad terms and would not be welcomed back.
b) IF the Isles were to add payroll, I would think it would be for a bigger deal. A higher pick for a better player. Sopel isn't the type of player that makes any difference to this team, so I can't see Wang opening the purse for him.
it was sopel's dream to play for the islanders, he was put in a position to fail and was traded not even one year into his contract. of course he was pissed about being traded. that being said, ima passing here.

Your thinking of Lukowich, but he left on good terms.
And Sopel sucks, If you threw in Pat Kane I'd do it.

Ditto!!!
"something wasn't right there...."
Yeah, it was you and your crappy play you goofball!!!
When he went back to the Canucks for a second stint. He told the media that he wanted to stay and talked to his agent to "make things happen". The Canucks passed... again...
Weight
Biron
Meyer (Thrown in to replace Barkers spot in the line up)
That helps CHI's salary cap and their current problems with injury.
I would hessitate to do it. We need a better deffenseman on this team for the present and future and I think Barker fits that. The only thing is I don't know how comfortable JT is with Weight. (he is living with him) I think because JT is being mentored by Weight we will not see him be moved. I think Barker would fit the Islanders and if weight was not taking JT in this trade would be done in the blink of an eye. Two UFA and Meyer for Barker and Skille is a win IMO. I also might wait to do this until DP proves he is healthy before we move Biron.
