The booing of the Habs at the Bell Center

Ok...

This is a bit much...

I mean I'm trying to watch the game on RDS to see if Montreal can mount a comeback

and all I hear is the booing of the Habs

Its pretty ugly and depressing, actually

and surely not very helpful to the spirits...

Is this the way its going to be all year???

Thoughts?

That's a massive fail.

The booing actually fired the team up. They got a lot better when they started hearing the boos. Players know exactly what to do to stop them. Play hard, be agressive in the offensive zone and get some scoring chances... the boos will stop immediately.

They were playing horribly and deserved to be booed. I'm glad the crowd got back into it when we started getting more chances too.

Okay, one of the reason I think the Bell Center is the best place to watch a game is the Fans are into it. If the Habs don't play well, the fans will let them hear it. Like wise, when things are great the fans are simply amazing.

You know what, I don't know of many places in the league where the crowd can appreciate a beautiful defensive play, or a great forecheck, or some good hussle on the PK. I have been to places where the only thing that will get the crowd going is a goal.

So players can be appreciated in many aspects of the game. The crowd will appreciate an effort. The crowd can give standing ovations to Zdeno Chara for a great shot FFS (at the ASG mind you...)

If they get booed, they *usually* deserve it, especially if there's a lack of effort.

Have you seen how the crowd cheered for the beautiful PK efforts of Plex and Hamrlik?

Give the crowd a break.

Carolina played like crap and we couldn't even get a good scoring chance. I'm not saying we should boo the Habs, but really I think this team team is getting ridiculous.

With last year's ending and this year's beginning in the 100th year and all this ****in' marketing going on....they deserve to be booed. They are ****** bad, facepalming bad.

Let's hope for the best franchise in the history of hockey to be better than the Hockeysuckers from Bushleaguecity please, that's the least we could get.

give me a bloody break. they deserved it. it sounds louder because it's packed with 21 000 people. if you had watched the bruins getting embarrassed by the isles at home last night and listened to that crowd, you wouldn't be starting these threads

Well the PP is ****ing dreadful and they deserve to get booed. How can you not get any scoring chances when you have one more player on the ice than the other team?

The PK is great on the other hand.

I don't know why but fans have always seemed to prefer booing than cheering at the Bell Center. They're ungrateful female dogs.

Is it just me, or was the CANADIAN anthem getting booed before the game?

People go there knowing the team might not perform well. They go there knowing the team might lose or play like **** so there's no ****ing excuse to boo your own team if they're not performing like you'd want them to. Especially this year when there's newcomers on the team. You don't boo them. That's it.

The thread is just a sharing of sentiment regarding the issue of booing the home team...

no biggie

And... the posts in response are excellent

However, I think the key phrase in the original post was...

booing while the team was "trying to mount a comeback"

I'm embarrassed to be a fan when idiots boo our own players. I'd clock any loser at the Bell if I caught them pulling any **** like that.

These people are "fans" too.

I wouldn't be surprised. They should bring The Pope at the Bell Centre. I bet he would get booed.

I don't agree with you, most of the fans out there paid at least 200 bucks just to see this game. 200$ is about 6-7 days of HARD labour, plus the organisation puts so much effort in their marketing effort and personally, i've never even seen a single good Habs team since i'm old enough to understand whats going on(I'm 26 btw).

I am losing my faith and this is all turning to irony and sarcasm for me right now. I can enjoy some of these players, but the lack of progress of the organisation in the last 15 years is BS. I love the Habs, but despise the way they are as an organisation right now.

Booing is justified for me...

They should boo it. Why does every team insist on getting these old opera singers to sing the anthems?

When you pay such huge amounts of money for tickets, food, beer and other expenses, you expect a somewhat decent show in front of you. When it doesn't deliver, you have every right to express your dissatisfaction.

I can assure you the players react to booing in a positive way most of the time. They know they are playing bad, and having some pressure put on them by the people who pay their salaries helps wake them up more often then not, as we saw tonight.

I'm not saying it's ok to boo every game, but sometimes the team deserves it, and needs it to get its head out of its ass.

Don't crap on the guys on the ice because the organisation assembled a bad team.

And nobody is forcing you to spend 200 bucks.
