The Goal Song (Whoa or Goal) - what do you sing

Drunken argument over this.

Evidence for the "Whoa"
1) it sounds like Whoa
(Who-o-o - lets go rangers)

Evidence for "Goal"
1) It's a goal song
2) Last years play off towels had "Goa-o-al" on them instead of "whoa"

It's definitely Whoa.

I guess it doesn't really matter, as long as you're having a good time.

Here's a separate question:

The HEN-RIK chant.

Who says "HEN-RIK"

And who says "HEN-RY"

Because, I've heard both mixed at MSG.

If Gaborik scores: Goal! (as expected)
If someone else scores: Woah! (very unexpected)

I've heard HEN-RY as much as i've heard HEN-RIK.

Also isin't it obvious that it should be "go-o-al" after a goal is scored? why would you say woaaaah? lol.

I think GOAL is a bit too on the nose and shows no real imagination

WHOA... has a bit more abstract coolness to it.

That must be why it sounds like HEN-REEK on TV.

I might be in the minority... but our Goal Song is weak. Sounds like something you would play at a 10 Year old's birthday party.

Anyway. It definatley sounds like "Whoa" on the Telecasts.

from Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History...gers#Goal_song

When the Rangers score a goal at Madison Square Garden the "Slapshot" (aka "The New York Rangers Goal Song") song is played . The song made its debut on January 20, 1995, the night the 1994 Stanley Cup Champion Banner was raised to the rafters. It was written by Ray Castoldi, the Music Director at Madison Square Garden. The song can be heard here. When played at the Garden, the majority of fans in attendance sing along by saying go-o-oal go-o-oal, Hey! Hey! Hey-Hey-Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey-Hey-Hey even though the real song says whoa-o-o.
