With Gomez out heres what i would do

- Call up Desharnais and Maxwell
- Gomez on IR or pressbox (depending on how serious it it)
- Moen (same as Gomez)

David Desharnais - Ben Maxwell - Mike Cammalleri
Max Pacioretty - Tomas Plekanec - Andrei Kostitsyn
Guillaume Latendresse - Maxime Lapierre - Ryan White
Kyle Chipchura - Glen Metropolit - Tommy Pyatt

i think if we fail to see maxwell and desharnais produce with a top sniper like cammy, than its a good indication that they are not ready.

Here's what I would do:

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Kostitsyn
Metropolit - Cammalleri - Latendresse
Pyatt - Lapierre - White
Laraque - Chipchura - Moen (or a call-up like Desharnais if Moen's hurt as well)

That's one ugly lineup though. If both Gomez and Moen are not playing, it might get ugly for us.

This is a disaster waiting to happen!

I think the fact they're still in AHL at this point is indicator enough that they're not ready.

If we don't call Sergei up at this point, it's beyond ridiculous.

The kid isn't happy because he didn't get a chance?..fine, now he'll get one and have to prove himself.

And Cammy will play along side Plek and A.Kost. There's no other option.

Why would you put Plekanec, the team's best centre (and player), on the second line and put an AHLer who never scored an NHL goal to centre the top line? It's like telling Crosby, "you know what Sid, were gonna go with the guy in the AHL on the top line because he's more proven than you are".

didnt Sergei apparently stole Patty Roy line **i will never play again for the habs** or something like that, it might be the only reason why he isnt called back.. because at this point, its would be beyond ridiculous, this team is freaking ahl bound with only 2 nhlers up front, Cammy and Pleky... and up to this point, partially Andrei K.

They aren't exactly tearing up the AHL either, we made the mistake of calling in players like Lats, Price, Sergei too early.

No, Sergei said he just wants to play in the NHL.

Do we even know for certain that Gomez is not playing tonight? They say questionable on RDS and it seems they only base this on the fact that he missed the end of the 3rd last night. Nothing about Moen at all.

Here's what we can call up:

# Player GP G A PTS +/- PIM PP SH S S%
-Center
19 Brock Trotter 18 4 10 14 7 14 1 0 38 0.105
91 Ben Maxwell 18 3 9 12 -4 4 1 0 45 0.067
-Right wing
74 Sergei Kostitsyn 15 3 7 10 1 2 0 0 16 0.188
15 Mike Glumac 18 3 5 8 1 26 2 0 52 0.058
10 J.T. Wyman 18 3 4 7 1 4 1 0 48 0.063
-Left wing
21 Mathieu Darche 14 7 3 10 7 2 2 0 66 0.106

I selected these from the Bulldogs site. Pretty much took the better scorers for the positions. Anything not in there had low scores or didn't play many games due to injury most probably. I personnally don't know most of them. Just posted possible call ups.

EDIT: I thought SK was a LW? hmm.

The OP's proposed lineup looks much better if you switch the two first lines. Stop bashing him for it. Its not like there are many more options and the Pac-Plek-Kost line (our real top line) must not be broken.

Our real top line is Cammalleri-Gomez-gionta.

the real REAL top line point wise should be Cammalleri-Pleckanec-Gionta

For whatever it's worth, heres my thought on these guys:

Brock Trotter - not the biggest guy, or the strongest but when on his game will compete hard. Leans slightly towards being more of a playmaker but can finish chances around the net. Looks quicker this year but doesn't always show his speed, slows the game to his pace more. Biggest strength is his creativity, best on the team in that regard IMO. At the AHL level, can be the difference in tight games with few chances. Currently finding his game again after not looking his best. Rewarded with an A this season for the attitude he showed through camp.

Ben Maxwell - You probably know him somewhat from Montreal, but haven't seen the best of him if thats the only place you've seen him. On his game, he is a smooth skater, can carry or pass the puck well, has okay hands and can score a few goals. More a playmaker though. Can get back well although sometimes needs to pay more attention in his own zone. Not in good form right now but looked a little better last night. Still a ways off his best form though.

Sergei Kostitsyn - I take it you know him pretty well. He isn't in great form in Hamilton right now. Makes some smart plays and can get back and help in his own zone but he looks slow and lacks the fire we all loved from him when he broke into the Habs in 07-08. Apparently working hard in training and doing what he can to help his team. Can still make some nice plays but I've seen him play better for the Dogs.

Mike Glumac - Big, right handed scorer. Good leader who can play the body, will work the boards and go to the net. Dogs top goal scorer last season on the big line with Trotter and Desharnais. Only recently found his game when Desharnais returned from injury. His size and goalscoring may help the Habs on a scoring line but he would potentially need plenty of help from linemates carrying the rest of the play. Could perhaps be used in a lower line role but we have plenty of players available for such roles right now and we may not have the quality players to insulate him on the top lines if Gomez is now out.

J.T. Wyman - Decent size, excellent wheels and good work ethic. Limited offensive skills but can play pretty much any position other than goalie. Again, if he were to get a callup, it would have to be for a lower line and we have the bodies to cover those roles. Creates chances with his speed but sometimes lacks the skills to do much with them.

Mathieu Darche - Won't be called up any time soon, he is out injured for another 4-5 weeks at least. Can finish plays though, regularly found in front of the other teams net. Will work hard, is kinda like a left handed version of Glumac. More experienced than our young players, been a good addition to the team when he was healthy.

The key guy you are missing from that list would be Desharnais, small, crafty player with great vision and an even better workrate. Just come back from injury though, although in the handful of games he has been back, has proven himself to be most valuable and is a huge reason why Glumac and Trotter are finding their games again.

Of those names, I'd say that if we need someone who has proven something at the NHL level, then call Sergei. For playmaking, Desharnais, for goal scoring, Glumac and for creativity and a little outside the box thinking, Trotter. However none may make a significant difference.
