4-2 Jets - and I expect the Oilers to get called if one of them looks at a Coyote cross-eyed. Ordering this game will be a waste of money and years off your life.

With a GDT like this, I imagine the Carolina Hurricanes don't even have a HFBoard site anymore.

I would have made a GDT had there not been one this morning, but hey, at least we have one now.

Hopefully a win to go with it?

It seems like a lot, but it looks worse than it is because the Oilers have had a lot of their PPV games early this year, including their busiest grouping of them (5 out of their last 10 games have been PPV) of the season. 7 of their first 24 games have been PPV, from here on out only 9 of their remaining 58 games are of that type.

Their next PPV games is 3 1/2 weeks from now, December 17.

Personally, I find the amount of effort put into this GDT appropriate, considering the amount of effort we've been getting on the ice in the last 13 games.

It does feel like I put more effort into trying to get a win than some of the team. I am wearing blue today, but I also took it a step further and pulled out a pair of Oilers underwear. Will it work? Time will tell, time will tell

No one is talking about director Kevin Smith being at the game? The Oilers have been hyping this up for some time.

More info (1000% NSFW):

This team is so much more bearable when you only watch every third game. Viva La PPV!

I feel the GDT's should have the same amount of effort put into them as the team gives during the games. So he probally put too much time into the GDT

I'll be at the game sitting with Kevin Smith. A friend of mine won the contest and is also a member of HF "Shaynsaw". Should be a fun night and hopefully the Oil pull out a victory.

Well given Tambellini's comments, that might be a foregone conclusion.... he mentions how he likes the makeup of the team and blames the slide on injuries, the flu, and concussions. I know these factor into it, but I do not believe they are the entire story.

I was just looking over the media notes (available on the Oilers website) for the Coyotes/Oilers game while putting together my pregame article. The most telling fact is that the Oilers, at this point in the season, have lost over 130 man games to injury. This isn't as bad as the 07-08 season, but it's getting to that point pretty quickly.

Here's the list:

Oct. 3-Nov. 21 Marc Pouliot (Groin) 23 games
Oct. 3-Oct. 29 Fernando Pisani (Back) 13 games
Oct. 6 Ethan Moreau (Ankle) 1 game
Oct. 8 Steve Staios (Head) 1 game
Oct. 10-Nov. 11 Sheldon Souray (Head) 16 games
Oct. 12-Nov. 2 Steve Staios (Head) 11 games
Oct. 16 Ales Hemsky (Flu) 1 game
Oct. 19-Oct.24 Gilbert Brule (Flu) 3 games
Oct. 22-Nov. 21 Ryan Stone (Leg) 15 games
Oct. 24-Oct.25 Mike Comrie (Flu) 2 games
Oct. 29-Oct.31 Lubomir Visnovsky (Flu) 2 games
Oct. 29-Nov. 2 Mike Comrie (Flu) 3 games
Nov. 5-Nov. 8 Ladislav Smid (Flu) 2 games
Nov. 5-Nov. 18 J-F Jacques (Back) 7 games
Nov. 5-Nov. 11 Shawn Horcoff (Shoulder) 4 games
Nov. 8-Nov. 10 Ales Hemsky (Shoulder) 2 games
Nov. 10-Nov. 21 Robert Nilsson (Head) 6 games
Nov. 10-Nov. 21 Taylor Chorney (Ankle) 6 games
Nov. 15-Nov. 21 Denis Grebeshkov (Knee) 4 games
Nov. 15-Nov. 21 Fernando Pisani (Colitis) 4 games
Nov. 16 Sam Gagner (Hip) 1 game
Nov. 18-Nov. 21 Mike Comrie (Mono) 2 games
Nov. 21 Nikolai Khabibulin 1 game

I fully expect that to happen, just like last year. This team had a few of those, and there was an abbreviated spike in play, and then back to the same old. If a team hasn't figured out how they need to play in terms of toughness and intensity by the 23 game mark, no meeting will save them.

Got free tickets to this one tonight. Still debating if they are worth paying the parking for.

For me, it's not necessarily the injuries(although they definately affect the standings to a degree right now), but how the guys that are healthy actually play. IMO, Gilbert and Grebs have been lousy this year, and I believe they've both been healthy. POS continues to play soft, and stay out of any contact, and it shows with the continued pathetic goal totals. Robert Nilsson sucked when he was playing. Prior to his shoulder problems, Horcoff was playing poorly. Hemsky has been putting some points up, but his decision making and effort has continued to be subpar, and it finally came to a head during a practice last week. The list goes on. I don't expect the team to win every game, but if we're outmanned, like we were against Chicago, I want us to at least go down with some intensity and effort.

I'm really not sure what you're referring to when you say "this team had a few of those". Do you have any links I could look at? Not trying to call you out or anything, I just really don't remember too many specific team meetings of this type (coaches talking to players) I remember two instances of player only meetings... But those are a different animal.

You could be right regarding the specifics as to exactly who was there. But I do know there were "meetings" during last year's debacle of a season. And none of them did a dammed thing in the long term.

As I recall, they didn't do anything in the short term either.

But again, I really don't think we can compare team only meetings, or regular video review meetings with a 90 minute session between coaches and the leadership group. These things are different.

We'll see how it goes.

It would most certainly help if the captain led the charge in this department. For guys like Stone and Jacques it's just what they do, I really hope that Stone returns soon.
