We'll see how it goes.

That we shall. I guess I may be just a little too cynical right now to believe that a 90 minute meeting between some vets and the coach will be a magic pill for what ails this team.

That all depends on what was said I suppose.

The thing that bothers me the most is the mental errors. How can you be at that level and make stupid decisions, over and over and over again? More alarming is how do you cure stupidity? No meeting is going to fix that. Its trying to put a band aid on a severed artery imo. We need to dump some of these perennial losers and get ourselves a Tavares, Kane, type of player or more than one with a few years of top five picks. That would be the fastest and best way out of this mess.

I think this approach is easier said than done. I'm not speaking from keeping the fanbase happy either.

No one said it would be easy. If you look at the successful teams right now, most of them have done it this way. What are the alternatives? Ufa's dont want to come here and we dont have cap space anyway. Good players wont waive their ntc's to come here. What does that leave? Status quo? How has that been working?

I was mainly referring to dumping players. Whether we like it or not we are stuck with Shawn Horcoff for at least 5 of the 6 seasons of his contract. We lose Pisani this year but are mroe than likely stuck with Moreau and Staios for another season. I'm sure if Nilsson could be traded he would have already been traded.

The only palyers I can actually se having value are the only ones who are actually doing something for this team (Hemsky, Penner, Souray, Smid, Vish, Souray) then also guys like Gagner, Cogs and O'Sullivan too and probably Comrie because he is only on a 1-year deal but that will be a deadline deal. Other than that I think we are stuck with some of these contracts unless we find suckers who will take these duds.

Gagner moves up to top line with Penner & Hemsky; Horcoff skates with Brule & Jacques at #Oilers morning skate.
I'm happy about this. Gagner with Jacques was poop. And Brule is good at hockeys.

dantencer: Quinn on teamwork: Too many guys guilty of "protect your own ass syndrome".

Wow. That's so hilarious and so true at the same time.

You must not be very good with the intertubes... In recent years they have added content that is neither pornography nor hfboards. Surprisingly there are now a number of locations you can peruse for information pertaining to ice hockey. I suggest:

www.tsn.ca
www.sportsnet.ca
slam.canoe.ca
www.nhl.com

I dont care either way, but...

You are missing the point, there are people here that take pride in making the GDT, then there are people that like having everything compiled one one nice location with an Oiler/ or other twist to it.

This guy didnt do anything, just threw up a thread...I dont even think the minimum GDT reqs are in there.

So the point is, people do enjoy making the GDT and people do enjoy viewing the GDTs, so if you arnt going to put any effort into ...just dont do it. /shrug, seems fair.

You can go to other forums and websites to discuss oiler hockey too, not sure what your point is. Besides scrapping a tradition people here take pride in.

I've updated the GDT. We're not always looking for shiny, elaborate GDTs - but we do have a policy that some information on the game should be included. Many check the first post for game information.

Keep that in mind for the future. Thanks.

Good move but at some point it would be nice to see Brule have a chance on the top line, Cogs to

That isn't the point. The point is the GDT thread is a place where an Oiler fan can get a variety of game day info all on one page in an easy to access forum. I've never been one to be an internet cop, but I am also disappointed in this GDT. There should be a rule if you are going to make one, you have to put some effort into information gathering and have all the necessary info:

Place
time
media
roster
anecdotal information.
