We played against him like, a week ago. He played a hell of game and scored on us at least once.

And their captain. Team's don't usually trade away captains.

Too much. I highly doubt the Predators would trade their captain and most likely best forward. They are also thin at center.

He scored 2 goals, as I predicted. He also waxed poetic about the glory days of 2000 and the cup win. I think he could be pried loose close to the trade deadline for some of our youth that is being showcased nicely right now if Nashville slips out of playoff contention.

He's not a UFA... I don't see us prying away someone with a contract year left, and a 4.5M cap hit.

That being said, he's a difference maker. The kind of guy that puts us from a playoff team, to a deep playoff team.

I think we have enough to get a above average rental for the playoffs. Superstars or a big name with a decent contract... ehhhh

I know that, not saying they're looking to move him - but if a juicy offer was presented that gave them value beyond his final contract year... they might be interested as they would be out of the playoffs and looking at another expensive player with only 1 year left vs. a few talented (cheap) young players to build with.

Plus Arnott scores nice ugly goals - high slot, in the crease, rebounds, etc... and makes a nice screen on the PP. Oh did I mention he has great chemistry with Elias?

Could be A-line formula all over again. Elias-Arnott-Bergfors (soft euro finesse RW with a great shot)

Imagine the playoff run...

Parise-Zajac-Clarkson
Elias-Arnott-Bergfors
Rolston-Zubrus-Langenbrunner
Pandolfo-Niedermayer-McAmmond
Sestito

I highly doubt Arnott is coming back. Let's not indulge that pipe dream.

That said, it would be awesome to put him and Elias back together.

Switch Langs and Clarktard and I really like that line-up...easpecially with no P3L, Peters, or Pikk

Any trade to acquire Arnott would probably have to include Bergfors. And Nashville probably has zero interest in moving him, especially since they might be in the playoff picture this year.

What about teams that currently suck and are highly unlikely to make the playoffs - i.e. Leafs, Ducks, Hurricanes. Anything interesting on those teams except the usual suspects like Scott N. and Kaberle?

Defencemen:
Corvo from the former Whalers
Michalek from the Coyotes
Several good puckmoving defencemen from the Oilers
Zidlicky from the Wild
Wisniewski from the Ducks (though I doubt they'll trade him)
Kubina from the Thrashers

Centres:
Belanger from the Wild
Koivu from the Ducks
Stajan from the Leafs
We could probably get Horcoff cheap from the Oilers, but we wouldn't want to

If we could land Koviu and Scotty in the same trade without giving up any roster players I'd cry! FAT CHANCE!!

Parise Zajac Langs

Elias Koviu Bergfors

Rolston Nieds Clarkson

Pandolfo Sestito/McAmmond/Zubrus Halichuck

Martin Niedermayer

Oudya Salvador

Greene White

Marty and Danis= CUP!!

Then again if we could land Arnott might as well trade for Sykora right

Add Kim Johnsson from the Wild. I have a weird feeling we're gonna pick him up. He was more Lemaire's man in Minny than Zidlicky.

Good point. For some reason I thought he was over 35, which would have made it much less likely.

I'd like to see Lou make another Salvador type deal, where we are likely to re-sign the player, instead of just having a rental. That's why there are mostly younger defencemen on my list. Hamhuis is a guy I really want to see Lou go after, but we'll see where Nashville is in the standings come deadline time.

Sykora is all kinds of washed up, and currently injured I believe. No thanks.

I'd rather put Bergfors on that line, if by some miracle we can con the Predators into giving us Arnott on the cheap. Of course, that won't happen so there's no point to this speculation.

I had a dream we got Arnott and Niedermayer both back and they were celebrating... I woke up all happy thinking it really happened then I realized it was a dream.

So now the question is, does Lou want to continue the Devils reunion tour?

Stajan seems interesting - 15G 40A last year on a bad Leafs team, signed on a cheap deal, probably available.

I think he recently missed his 5th straight, and missed more games than he has played in

I don't know how reflective this is of management's position, but judging by the proposals they post, every Leaf fan on the trade board seems to think that Stajan is available.

I'd be surprised if the Hawks traded Sharp at this point. The speculation is that they already have agreements in place for Toews, Kane, and Keith but that they'd be over the cap for next year (the "tagging" rule), so they might be looking to make a smaller deal. Ie, Brent Sopel + draft pick for a slice of apple pie. The Hawks are making a run at it this year, so trading a 6th/7th D like Sopel makes much more sense than a top 6 guy like Sharp.

And then in the offseason, I think Sharp could fetch more than Cormier, Mottau (who'd be UFA by then), and a 2nd.

Chicago is probably willing to deal him (I don't know if they would before the deadline though), and I would like to acquire him. We'll see.
