Bad move putting both 'Martins' together, people will vote for one mistakenly....

Straka. Graves played one season this decade and was pretty much done by then.

I love Straka... I'll never forget when he broke his hand by blocking Chara's shot and stayed on the ice and blocked another shot by Chara. He was a great teammate.

At times, Prospal's enthusiasm reminds me of Straka.

Straka - Nylander - Jagr was for some time by far the best line we had this decade, so it's only right they are the first line in this poll.

Agreed. Same reason why I voted for Straka.

Incidentally, Simon might actually be the best LW the Islanders have had this decade!

For two years it was one of the best lines in the league...

Quick Stats comparison:
Shannahan
67-29-33-62 ---- 10-5-2-7
73-23-23-46 ---- 10-1-4-5

140-52-56-108 ---- 20-6-6-12
1-0.371-0.400-0.771 --- 1-0.300-0.300-0.600

Straka
82-22-54-76 ---- 4-0-0-0
77-29-41-70 ---- 10-2-8-10
65-14-27-41 ---- 10-3-7-10

224-65-122-187 ---- 24-5-15-20
1-0.397-0.545-0.835 ---- 1-0.208-0.625-0.8333

Of course Straka had the benefit of playing with Jagr more than anything else.

We can also point out that Shanahan played much more short handed than Straka.

In the three years Straka was here, the first two he had a lot of Powerplay points. The third year very few. Shanahan had more PPP in the two overlapping years.

Straka scored 70 of 187 points on the powerplay... 37.4%
Shanahan scored 50 of 122 points on the powerplay... 40.1%

I went with Martin Ručinský in the end (even though his final games after bad injuries were not greatest). I appreciate that all 3 times he joined the NYR, he did a good job. Provided important secondary scoring (along with Průcha) in 05/06. Something NYR did not have in final JJ's year in NY.

Straka, with Shanahan, Naslund, and Rucinsky providing some competition. But none of them were around long enought to unseat Straka.

That said, this position IMO is weaker than our center this decade.

My thoughts exactly, couldn't have said it better.

Straka's efforts here in NY made him one of my all time favorite players. He gave 100%, all the time.

Yes, I voted Straka too.

Btw. I saw him last night in live game. His Plzen came to Brno and Martin was simply amazing! He scored awesome shorthanded goal when he made 2 defenceman + goalie look like clowns!
