McGuire says that he was worried about the Latendresse/Lapierre friendship. I wonder why? Just because two guys are friends, I'm not sure why that's a negative. Are they too cliquey?

I'm not surprised by the reaction but anyway, Guillaume has far more goals in the NHL than Pouliot has in the AHL, so a ridiculous move as far as I'm concerned

This can't be judged for awhile considering the age of both players involved. This is the classic case of swapping one enigma for another.

The Habs always liked Pouliot it seems, so I am not surprised they targeted him.
???

latendresse has already played over 200 games at NHL level and has scored 15+ goals every season...

What about Pouliot ?

What a bad trade !!!!

Wish Latendresse the best of luck, kind of feels like giving up on him a bit, atleast should he come into his own in minny he won't become a Habs killer ala Leclair.

Hopefully Pouliot can find his game here, I haven't seen him play but his statistics are underwhelming.

Minnesota also prior to this year played a defensive system primarily, and sheltered their players in the minors until they are close to fully developed. I wonder whether that has had an impact on Pouliot's output up until now.

I remember back in 2005 though that I thought this guy had bust potential written all over him. He certainly hasn't overcome that over 4 years later.

Show me the money...

Lats was one of the only few that could give a body check and score some goals on a third line.

Simply an awful trade that Gainey will regret for years to come.

Martin obviously hated Lats.

I would say they associated too much with each other and not the whole team, always together on the bench on the ice and so on...too dependant on each other and not dependant enough on their own traits or working on getting that chemistry with others.

Lappy maybe next if he doesn't show up, Pyatt and Chip can easily replace him.

Seriously, this could be a great win for us... Pouliot could really well develop properly in Montreal, he's still young and will get some good coaching from Martin.

Lats hits were pathetic, even MA Bergeron hits harder.

This is a dump guys, no need to cry over the return.

Pouliot fit more the mold of this team. I understand he is much more mobile than Guillaume, while carrying the same offensive potential. If he comes into his own he could be a good 2nd line LW for us. With the emergence of Pyatt and White, some of these bottom line players like Latendresse become expendable.

Both sides are gambling, both organizations I think hope that each player will flourish in the new situation.
