A 3-WAY TIE (in PB1300s opinion)

#16 Nathan Horton: Nathan Horton just keeps getting better and better as this season has gone on. The winger has a six-game point streak in tact (3-5-8). Horton scored the first goal of the game against Pittsburgh then picked up the second assist on Keith Ballard's goal, staking Florida to a 2-0 lead through two periods. Horton leads the Panthers in assists (12) and points (19) and tied for second in goals (seven).

#4 Dennis Seidenberg: When Dmen go unnoticed, that tends to be a good thing. Seidenberg, with eight points on the season (1g, 7a), has committed only ONE penalty the entire season so far. A late off-season pick up for the Panthers has came in and become arguably, the teams best Dman.

THE FLORIDA PANTHERS!!!! After another miserable start to the season, the Florida Panthers have gone 8-2-2 in their last 12 games, putting them within striking distance of a top eight seed.

I am even more pumped for this game than I was against the Penguins. What a screwjob that was, but what do you expect with Cindy. At least we kept the point streak alive and need to keep it going tonight. I would imagine our guys will be pissed after that BS loss on Monday, so they better get the job done. I have to miss the Friday game against the Leafs because I am leaving for Baltimore early tomorrow morning for Thanksgiving so the Cats better play with an attitude tonight and get the 2 points.

Good to hear Mac will be in the lineup tonight, lets see him make his presence felt and lets keep the point streak alive. LETS GO CATS!!!

I've been waiting for this game since the beginning of the season. How great would it be for the Cats to destroy the Rangers and shut all those loudmouth New Yawkas up and send them home crying.

I'll say 5-3 Panthers win.

Gotta love Rangers fans. Even tho we had the edge against them last season, and outplayed them the first game.. they still believe in a big win.. well well.. since they say 5-1 Rags, I'm gonna say 5-1 Florida and Henke pulled in the second after 4 goals allowed.

5-1 Panthers

Horton (2), Reino, Seidenberg, Weiss - Gabby

I say there is about a 99.9999% chance Mac gets in a fight with Avery tonight.

Really? Isn't Mac too big and tough for Avery?

Rangers looked good against Columbus but I think they have trouble handling our team speed. If we can keep Gaborik in check we should do well.

Yeah, Avery would never fight MacIntyre. As much as most people would love to see that, it will never happen.

As has been said, no way Avery goes with Big Mac. Avery may be an idiot, but he's not stupid. He'd go with Soupy all day long, not a chance against Avery.

Brashear - Mac will hopefully happen, though.

Avery is a little punk, I think he would fight him. He would be stupid to, but he wouldnt back down. Whoever it is against, a Mac fight is going down tonight.

Avery would never fight Mac, ever. That's not his game, he'd happily goad any player into a penalty, but he'd never go with MacIntrye.

So you are saying that having an enforcer on the roster doesn't affect a pest like Avery?

Not likely, that should be common knowledge. However, should MacIntyre get Avery with a big hit or two, that may change his mind on some things. Players being run over, the goalie being knocked about, are bigger issues than Avery's mouth and most of his actions.

So you are saying that it's big hits and not fighting that buys space for our players?

Well, if Avery won't fight then how do you keep him from harassing our players? Isn't that what an enforcer is for? To keep our players from being harassed?

You make a very good point. I was just thinking about this the other day. Im a big junior hockey fan, and, naturally, there are a lot of fights. However, some teams have coaches who explicitly forbid players from fighting. So, when that team starts to throw dirty hits around and play a nasty style of game without the risk of having to fight because of it..how do you make them reconsider? The best answer ive seen is to have a few of your bigger guys go out and maul his victim, with little regard for the efforts of officials, or helmets, or facemasks, or common decency. This has worked at the junior level, that team decides to abandon their dirty play; if only out of fear. Its kind of like the scene from unnecessary roughness, when they play against the prison team (full of hall of famer cameo's). Of course, this doesnt really work at the NHL level. Guys like Avery dont care if you maul him, he'll turtle shell it and happily collect a paycheck. That said, I believe the contribution from a player like Mac will be overwhelmingly positive and constructive towards establishing a more significant physical presence on the ice. I believe Laus (the HFboard member) has said several times that the Panthers will be able to play more free knowing that a monster has their back. I agree with him. Still, without him in the lineup we seem to be getting tougher by the game. Guess you gotta give that checking line some credit.

hah
