Pull it out only when someone makes a decision they'll later regret.

Curious to see who Ottawa is putting into their #1 C opening if they aren't the team resigning Savard.

Jason Spezza says hi from Calgary!

Press Release:

Daymond Langkow is on the block. He's slowed down to a reasonable 50-60 point pace, perfect for a 2nd line C, and he excels greatly when put with a talented winger. He is capable of playing both wings, signed for 2 more years (Contract expires 2011-2012).

I'm looking to move him ASAP, and am willing to take anything that is under 4.5 M dollars in Cap Space in return. Let me know people!!

The Blue Jackets are looking to package Garon and a draft pick for an upgrade in nets.

Otherwise they are done dealing.

This is what I get for trading for Savard, and Frolovs rights.

Frolov has decided to test the open market, and will not accept an offer until he sees what the top dollar he can get is.

Savard- same as above

I really got screwed. I have cap space, but no assets.

Willie Mitchell returns to New Jersey.

Defenseman Willie Mitchell, traded by the Devils in 2001 for Sean O'Donnell, has decided to re-join the organization, signing a 4 year contract worth $4M each season. Mitchell immediately becomes the team's leading physical and shutdown defenseman as New Jersey has dealt both Colin White and Bryce Salvador in recent times.

New Jersey also re-signed defenseman Mike Mottau to a 2 year contract worth a total of $1.6M.

New Jersey's current defensive depth goes
1) Paul Martin
2) Bryan McCabe
3) Willie Mitchell
4) Andy Greene / Johnny Oduya
5) Mike Mottau
6) Mark Fraser / Tyler Eckford / Matt Corrente
7) Rob Davison / Matt Taormina

New Jersey's rough prediction for a lineup:

Parise - Zajac - Elias
Bergfors - Zubrus - Clarkson
Rolston - Josefson/Nilsson - Langenbrunner
Zharkov - Sestito/Cormier - Halischuk
Leblond/Peters

Martin
McCabe
Mitchell
Oduya
Greene
Mottau
Fraser

Brodeur
Danis

That's what you risk when you trade for a player's rights pre-UFA.

Confirmed.

We have made this move uneasily, because Langkow, despite his contract is a great #2 C. We just felt that with Backlund ready for the big leagues in a Top 6 role, and Dustin Boyd's progression they deserved the #2/3 Spots. Korkikoski will fight for a spot in our bottom 6 with many capable forwards, and Ruzicka is another solid forward prospect who we look forward to working with. We will begin our pursuit for a #3/4 C immediately. We have some big moves in FA to come as well.

Current Lines

Ladd-Spezza-Iginla
Moss-Backlund-Bourque
Glencross-Boyd-Skille
Dawes-Neidermayer-Prust
Sjostrom
Korpikoski

Regehr-Bouwmeester
Pietrangelo-_______
Giordano-Pardy
Kronwall

Many of the bottom 6 forwards are available for the right price.

Yeah, but at least I got some assets back for Spezza while I still could.

Situations

Keep Spezza,Lose Savard- I lose all of the prospects I just traded

Keep Spezza-Keep Savard- No cap Space

Lose Spezza-Keep Savard- break about even , depth wise with what I gave for savard.

Lose Both- Screwed
