It's always sad to see good posters hang 'em up. There was a guy used to post on HfBoards named Vlad who was a great source of insight who stopped posting some time ago.

I'd say the resurgence of HF-Wild owes a lot to GopherState - I remember the epic 10 page game-day thread he did solo was the bait that lured me back in, as well as the general decline of the Wild.com site. I just gotta talk me some Wild hockey, and this is the best place to do that now. Nobody seems to take themselves too seriously here, which makes for more fun.

Thanks for the kind words!

No, it's pretty easy given they congregate in the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk (and Stanley Cup/WJC/Olympic when applicable) forum.

I will absolutely agree here. I will admit, back in the Wild.com heyday I looked at this site as a joke of a place to post (no offense intended to any long-timers here), but after the Wild.com boards went to crap... I was searching for a place to post regularly, and I ended up here. There seems to be much better quality of posting going on here these days by far.

This place has come a long ways.

I have to agree that Gopher made me want to finally make an account after lurking on these boards for quite some time. That GDT where he talked to himself the whole time was epic, so I figured that I would have to join him.

Then more and more continued to post, it's really come a long way since I originally joined in March.

So on the subject of MN Hockey & HF popularity, we had about 500 posts in the Free Agency thread along with another 160 posts with the various signings. That's 1/3 more than the WMB (just going off the total numbers, so it's actually probably more) and 1.6% of the total posts.

I think it's safe to say that this forum is no longer a huge joke. Go us!

Yeah and I think it only took 3-4 months too. Hell of a job (although you got a lot of help with the complete suck hole that is the official boards).

Seriously, punch & pie always needs to be one of the prongs in any tactical maneuver.

Operation Enduring Freedom could of been circumvented with the introduction of punch & pie

The official boards are now the huge joke. As soon as the league took over and revamped the boards...what twice now? They've gone to complete crap. I despise the layout. It's frustrating and confusing. They tried way too hard to turn it into some sort of mb / facebook hybrid. The result was ridiculously horrible.

The thing is, the official boards were about perfect the way they were. Sure, there were a few minor things that could've been better... but you don't take down tear up and revamp something that works perfectly fine. They did, and everyone hated it and left.

Go figure. NHL Server Nazi's did it first with the team webpages, and they did it again with the message boards. Everything the NHL Server Nazi's touch goes to hell.

maybe why we don't talk a bunch of hockey here in Minnesota on these boards is we live it here in Minny, no need to yack alot about it. We live it man! lol

We got fantastic high school hockey all around us. Personally I can drive less than 20 minutes from where I live and go to 6 different areas and see different local teams play. Both boys and girls.

I have 3 different university teams to watch all right here in the Duluth/Superior area.

Got the Wild too, living here is sort of like living in little Canada, lol.

Whether our teams suck, or rule, it usually don't matter much, we love them none the less.

Such nice words...

Well, I thought I'd chime in since I'm mentioned multiple times as a reason for both bad and good. I had my screename changed 3 times in my time at the Wild.com boards. I am still a regular poster there, and sure it isn't nearly what it used to be. However, I wouldn't say its all that hostile anymore either but that is probably partly due to the fact there just isn't a lot of people there anymore.

What I really miss was some of the international posters we had there. JencaHungary, CoolSlovak...and others really made things pretty interesting. Wukwinn was the Youtube creation master. I really miss his compilations, that kid had 100% real talent. He'll probably be rich someday but now he's at Minnesota State if my memory serves me correctly.

Ms. Conduct was / is ok. I liked some of her stuff, but not all of it. However I'd agree with some of you that at times Hockey Talk turned into a war and I have zero problem admitting I was in that mix more often than not. Yet at the same time, I still think the NHL changes were far more detrimental to keeping people there than anything a few board vets did.

As far as my people skills go, meet me first then judge. I am not talking in a confrontational way. I have zero problem meeting anyone. I think I do just fine socially. If know you're going to a game I'm more than fine with meeting up at a bar and talking hockey for hours. I love talking hockey and that's why I joined this place.
