is Niemi the starter again?

And this will be my third (first the two in Europe) live game (on TV) this year.

Hawks 4 (Hossa with the Emptynet Goal )
Sharks 2

Why is Niemi listed as the starter? Every preview I read had Huet as the expected starter.

Here's one quote "San Jose looks for another strong offensive showing against Cristobal Huet, who is expected to be back in net after having the night off Sunday.

Huet has posted a 1.81 goals-against average in winning his last six starts."

Things I am thankful for:

1) Good Beer
2) Good Food
3) Marian Hossa's debut

Teemu got too excited over putting Hossa in the lineup and forgot to change the goalies.

Can't blame him for that

ESPN's Jesse Rogers went there already... Kane-Toews-Hossa as good as Secord-Savard-Larmer? Bold, Jesse, bold... but I like it.

Other than Hossa, I'll be watching the minutes of Sopel & Barker, since both have been on the block and in every rumor in nearly every city for the past week. Sopel's have been going up, while Barker's have been trending down.

I've got Chicago winning 5-3. Versteeg, Campbell, Toews (2) and Brouwer with the goals.

Hossa and Heatley get to square off against each other as well. Two guys that were traded for each other about 4 years ago. Now they're both playing in the West on the top 2 clubs and both looking to climb the mountain with their respective teams. Kane has gotta be drooling at the thought of Hossa burying his tape to tape passes. There's no reason that our PP should'nt be just kick ass once The Big Hoss gets rollin.

Wings fan here.

Hope to see you guys do well with Hossa in the lineup. As long as you guys don't knock off Detroit in the playoffs I will be pulling for you guys to win the cup this year.

Thanks, but unless you guys are healthy as hell and even then, we will most likely beat the Wings if we meet in the playoffs this year. Not to sound cocky but going back to all Conference rivals in sports, the Bulls eventually beat the Pistons, the 49ers beat the Cowboys and the Colts eventually beat the Patriots. The Hawks are young and hungry as hell. This organization has never seen anything like this regime right now from the owner to the players.

Hello, Hawks fans.

You guys have an amazing team.
Not only young, but now experienced, with Hossa to boot!
That's a scary and winning combination.

Good luck the rest of the season, but don't be too cruel tonight!!!
Hope for a great game.

Since this is a Hawks message board - I'll assume you mean the top line of the Hawks. But the top line of the Sharks is arguably the best in the league right now. I'll be very satisfied if our top line can be close to matching their top line. I think we have a bit of an edge in the other lines and probably a decided edge on defense - especially if Boyle is out. Looking forward to an exciting game tonight.

Blake and Boyle out does kind of take away part of the excitement, two points for the Hawks will make up for that though

Quick question guys. I noticed that since Bolland got injured Versteeg has been taking his spot on the 2nd line as a center and seems to be doing a good job. With all the talk of trading Versteeg, Barker or Big Buff, has anyone thought of keeping Versteeg over Bolland?

No chance. Versteeg is much better suited on the wing. He's playing center out of necessity.

We always match up well with the Sharks. I'm a little bummed Boyle and Blake are out. I hope we light them up.

Gooch, Blake and Boyle. Tough injuries. Of course the Hawks have been without Hossa until tonight and our 2nd line center Bolland for the past 10 games.

Clash of the Titans tonight boys.

Boyle and Blake being out doesn't change the fact that John Madden owned Joe Thornton in the circle last week in Chicago.

Does it diminish a Hawks win (if/when they do win tonight)? In the eyes of some. But at the end of the day it's about POINTS, and if the Hawks can leave San Jose healthy w/ 2 more, nobody cares who was healthy in November when April, May and June come around

I'm with you. He's pretty awful on faceoffs which is evidenced by his 34.8 win percentage. We're #2 on faceoffs already. If he could win even 45%, we'd take #1 handily.
