Please please take him. We'd love the salary off our books.

Please. Lake Erie Monsters need him and that's where I hope he'll be. If the organization wanted to get rid of him I'm sure they would find a buyer - even for future considerations if the situation was as dire as you erroneously suggest.

But Hensick was considered one of the biggest steals of his draft here on HF... 5 minutes after the draft ended.

The Predators have no interest in Hensick. He is only a marginal upgrade, if an upgrade at all, on Mike Santorelli. We're looking for someone with more versatility to fill the third line center position.

Also, aren't the Red Wings at the contract limit? That would make it impossible for them to put in a claim on Hensick.

I could see a lot of teams claiming Hensick

Off to the to of my head:

Oilers (they have so many injuries, most importantly Comrie who is out a month+)
Canucks (Wellwood sucks)
Habs (Gomez, Gionta and D'Agostini injured)
Hawks (they waived Ebbett, but they still need a replacement for Bolland)

lol, Koistinen is terrible. He's good at shootouts, and good on the powerplay, but only once it's setup. Other than that, he's absolutely worthless. He's built like a schoolgirl.

I'm shocked they couldn't even get a draft pick for Hensick, I always thought he was going to have a bright future in the NHL.

I'd be even more shocked if no team picked him up.

Sorry, misread the tone. In hindsight it's obvious but some Avs fans have been so exceedingly negative - on Duchene as an example - that if not read carefully it'd fit right in on the emotional rollercoaster.

Obviously, which is why he's on waivers.

I'd be interested in Voros, though, we have MacIntyre, Oreskovich, and McArdle playing the roles he'd play.

Why wouldn't Carolina, who has 1st priority, claim Hensick?

I can see no real reason they wouldn't try it. Plus, if they did they could move Matt Cullen in a trade and still ice a reasonable 3rd line.

I didn't want to bring that up because it's just more rumormongering but they'd be able to move one of their forwards, since they've been trying or at least talking about making a move. A free young asset to try out to get some fresh blood on an ELC doesn't seem like much of a risk for them right now.

If he fails, they can waive him or just let his deal run out and take the space.

If someone put in a claim already would we of heard of it by now? It was around 7 hours ago that hensick went on waivers.

If so that means the teams that had first dibs haven't put in a claim for hensick.

Well only one team has first dibs on Hensick, and unless that team claims him, then we won't hear about it until the full time is up...

Since that last place team could put in the claim at the last minute (Technically)...

Also some GM's like to talk to their scouts, coaches and other assistants before putting in the claim.

No, that's not true. Any team, if any, who wants him would fax in a claim and then it's processed at noon the following day (if it occured before noon I believe, also I think during weekend it's longer period). So there's no real reason to indicate that Carolina has passed up on him.

I hope Gainey puts in a claim for one of these guys. Hensick for sure. Hensick could be used right now and used in big minutes on the Canadiens. Koistinen would be good for our D at this point with all the injuries and we can get him for free.

Pick Hensick send Desharnais, Wyman, and Stewart down for sure.

Montreal still has hovering around the mill mark or maybe 850 - 900 K.

Hensick couldn't hurt our offensive that is for sure.

Montreal can't claim him. They're at the 50 contract limit and sending players down won't circumvent that. Steward is already in the minors btw

We would have to trade someone quick...

Any news on who put in claims?

Hilarious.

Everytime a young player is on waivers people freak out and usually GMs are smart enough to realize there is a reason that player is on waivers.
