Ummm, yeah, you would be able to tell the difference between rednecks and people with legitimate reasons by looking at them - at least in those 2 cases.

Valiant effort though

I particularily liked the thinly veiled shots at the end

Actually you are and it all boils down to respect, got it RESPECT. Like I said before whatever you want to do go ahead, but don't act surprised when you get dirty looks. Remember friend, I'm not the guy who said he would jump somebody if they questioned him.

I never said that either .

I pity people who are narrow minded enough to look down on their fellow humans because of a simple item of clothing . Perhaps you need a better understanding of the word respect .

Ironically you seem to have completely misunderstood the conversation . I'm the person arguing that I'm not important enough to tell other people how to dress . You and others seem to be saying that your delicate sense of respect is worth accosting strangers in public about a hat . May I suggest you re-read the thread and then double check check the meaning of respect in the dictionary .

ok, after browsing this thread and thinking about it, i will say this: i have always and will continue to stand and remove my hat (if i ever wore one) at games.

however, i will defend someone else's choice to not do that even if i don't agreed with it or understand it.

This thread is a good example of how humans think their ideals are superior over others.
We really need to evolve, before its to late.

Why would you do any of the above towards people who are showing none towards their country?

I wouldn't . But I could always choose to ignore them and go on about my business . I disagree with a lot of stuff I see on a daily basis but I don't run around trying to correct them all . Especially the really silly stuff - like hats .

Do whatever you want everybody it is your choice after all. This thread is beyond ridiculous now and somehow I allowed myself to get drawn into it. Another loss last night and I feel like I have to vent, damn this board could use some wins.

In some countries burping at the table shows respects, in other countries...

It boils down to what YOU consider respect. I respect my country, I freaking love and would die for my country. You think I lose that because I didnt take off my hat during an anthem at a sporting event? Go screw.

FTR, I remove my hat, but I respect peoples right to keep them on, and understand that it doesnt mean they are showing disrespect. I live in a society where people have different ideals and customs...which I respect.

Look at these redneck kids showing no respect.

You take off your hat as a sign of respect to your country.

Canadians make up the country.

Perhaps people see others not removing their hat as not only disrespect towards their country but disrespect towards them.

Sadly, although I think there is room for potential discussion, I agree with Invisible. I'm far from innocent in this thread but some of the comments here are just getting nasty.

Exactly. If these people lived in some other countries for 1 week, they would gain a way better perspective on what matters and what doesnt.

People dont know how lucky they are to be in a free society...and have gotten pretty superficial.
