T.J. Hensick on waivers - why not?

He's a highly skilled 23 year old center (who can also play right wing) who has fallen out of favor in Colorado for various reasons (most likely because they have 3 other young centers). He produced huge numbers in the NCAA and in the AHL (0.98 PPG). Heck, even this year in the NHL he has 3 points in 7 games, overall in the NHL his PPG average is 0.35, which is still OK.

He also shoots right. His cap hit is 850 K. Sure, he's small...but at this stage, we are so depleted that this seems like a good opportunity.

I don't see the risk at this point in claiming him. At worse, he sucks and you waive him again.

Well, I don't know if he'd drop to Montreal's spot. Secondly, there'd be quite the logjam when players start coming off IR and the recent callups (White/Pyatt) have impressed Jacques Martin.

Bang on. Take him. We're calling up half the Bulldogs, and Hensick is at the very least a top-line AHLer. No harm whatsoever in taking him.

I posted it in the Out of town thread,we should definitely take a shot at him but I don't know if he will make it that far to us.

Also the Panthers placed Koistinen on waivers, maybe Martin knows something about him

Given the injuries to our forwards, I'd definitely snap him up if he fell to us.

Koistinen is apparently terrible and every Preds fan said so when Florida signed him...and if he's on waivers, they're probably right. No thanks.

At this rate, I am not sure this is even close to happening.

I mean even a guy like D'Agostini was skating 2 weeks ago and now we don't hear anything about his return.

Hensick is a better player than Wyman and Chipchura. We are playing both tonight.

Habs4life, the Panthers signed Koistinen this past summer, so he wouldn't.

I don't think we can have any more contracts... but he would give us an all Michigan Wolverine line of Cammalleri - Hensick - Pacioretty.

Crap, I think you are right. I count 50 contracts on capgeek+Lefebvre who doesn't count since he's in junior.

Unless Engqvist doesn't count, but I doubt it.

Can't we get some sort of suspension/injury exemption though? lol

I remember saying in the Leach thread how stupid it was to be at the 50 contracts limit and everyone told me that it was no big deal.

It might not be that big of a deal, but we just lost a chance to get a good young player for free

Wow wtf, why would they waive him? He was PPG+ everywhere he played except for the NHL but he's still young, you would think he has some trade value.

If we had 49 contracts they probably wouldn't waive him

Just kidding of course

You're assuming he's going to make it down to the Canadiens' waiver spot. Let's hold off on that until we find out where/if he gets picked up.

And it's not like Leach hasn't been contributing either.

Given the state of affairs - JT Wyman, really? - I think there is no reason not to grab him. Worst case scenario, if we get him, he fills in for a few games and then we lose him on waivers when people return.

that right....if so many are goona drool over the guy then we wont even get a shot anyway. If Gainey really wants him and has a chance,he can make room

I'm pretty sure guys playing overseas don't count.

So Engqvist should be clear.

Also... what happened to Johansson in Hamilton? Did he go back to Europe or is he hurt again?

Right... The Avalanche wouldn't wave him if that was the case.
