Emery

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_yl...yhoo&type=lgns

Currently we have two backup goalies, whether you want to believe that or not. Biron hasnt shown me that he is a stud #1 and Niity... well he is Niity. I know Emery does seem to have some attitude problems but I wouldnt mind him in a FLyers uniform if we could trade for him. I dont know his salary hit, but I would send Niity over if they are willing to trade Emery. He would most likely be the starter over Biron. What do you guys think?

Unless we're getting him as an enforcer I don't see how he is an improvement over anything we got.

Obviously the answer to our problem (two backup goaltenders) is to trade one of those two backups for another backup.

Yes, this makes sense.

I've seen enough of Emery to know that Biron is by far a better goaltender, and he doesn't come with all the ****.

Emery's a waste of space. He belongs nowhere near Philly.

It kills me how hardly anyone is prepared to rely on Biron...in spite of performances like two nights ago, which highly resembled about 15 or 20 different performances he had early in the season when he was starting more often.

Poor Marty. I'm behind the guy 100%.

And Niitty is a stellar backup. I will be absolutely thrilled with our goaltending situation as long as Stevens is prepared to give Biron the benefit of knowing he is #1 and Niitty is #2...rather than him pushing the idea that we have the luxury of having two #1's. I get that he thinks both goalies have played some great games and all that...they absolutely have, but I'd still be much more comfortable if we could back to the way things were early in the year, when it was very clearly understood that Marty was our #1.

And oh yeah, **** Emery.

Emery is not a bad player but I think we're seeing some major issues in terms of character and team cohesiveness. The idea of a backup is to keep your mouth shut and keep your team in games -- Emery fails to do both most nights.

We've got the best backup in the league, surely?

Biron is more than good enough to be a number one, as he's proving.

Haha Biron has a top 10 SV%, he just got a SO against the stanley cup champs. He has shown the ability to get hot with Buffalo when he won 13 games straight or whatever.

TRUST IN MARTY!

really?! this is getting f'ing unbelievable.
biron is the guy. in addition to stopping the puck--pretty well I might add--biron's positioning/consistency gives the team in front of him more confidence i think. if there is any doubt that biron isn't the one and only in the playoffs, we **** in the A.

I don't want to turn this into a Biron/Niitty thread but.....

Biron's Career Against Atlanta..

6 Wins - 9 Losses - 3.19 G.A.A. - .876 Save %

Funny thing is, 3 out of the 6 wins against them are shutouts.

Niittymaki's Career Against Atlanta

7 Wins - 0 Losses - 1.58 G.A.A. - .947 Save %

No shutouts against them, strange.....

Niitymaki can start against Atlanta, Biron starts against the Caps. AO seems to be more of a threat these days than any one team, let Biron deal with him.

We just got rid of one loose cannon (and no, I don't mean THE Cannon) in Esche, so no thanks to Emery!
