A straight Across Comparison

I wasn't sure where to put this, so I figured I make a thread.

The Edmonton Oilers on Nov 26th, 2008, they lost 2-1 to the Kings that night.

Penner - Horcoff - Hemsky
Nilsson - Gagner - Cogliano
Moreau - Pouliot - Cole
Smid - Sestito - Reddox

Visnovsky - Souray
Gilbert - Staios
Grebeshkov - Strudwick

Roloson
Garon

PB - Stortini (hurt), Brodziak, MacIntyre and JDD

The Edmonton Oilers November 27th, 2009 before they prepare for a game (they'll likely lose) to the Sharks.

Penner - Gagner - O'Sullivan
Jacques - Horcoff - Brule
Moreau - Potulny - Cogliano
McDonald - O'Marra - Stortini

Visnovsky - Smid
Souray - Staios
Struwick -Gilbert

JDD
DD

PB: Arsene

Hurt: Hemsky, Comrie, Grebeshkov, Chorney, Pisani, Khabby, Stone, Pouliot and Nilsson

I just thought of the contrast between the rosters, and it's kind of insane.

Just another year of suck in Oilerland.

But that's a helluva comparison, glad you thought to put it to print as it really puts things in perspective...although I'm through with the injury excuse

Why is that? The excuse had legitimacy to you at one point and we have not gotten anywhere close to healthier.

There you go.

At some point, you have to be able to deal with injuries...that, or face the reality that the roster is too soft and brittle to compete on a nightly basis. In my eyes, it's the latter and it is absolutely unacceptable.

The biggest problem is a team that wasn't great to begin with, has been decimated with with injuries.

This is ridiculous. I understand being pissed off that Oilers are struggling and losing but get a little perspective. Teams will/should never use injuries as an excuse. But from the get go, this team has been either sick or hurt.

Another bi-product of injuries is that players need to assume roles that they may not be comfortable with and in turn may struggle with their new roles.

I'm sorry, but injuries matter. They have to be dealt with and all teams have injuries. But you're essentially saying that a healthy Oilers teams would be in the same spot as the Springfield Oilers are right now.

Hey guys, I know it looked like a pointlessly pissy, snide little comment to add so I'll appologize, but in all honesty it does bug me. Especially considering my background, I despise it when people incorrectly spell or mispronounce central european names.

Lubo himself would be quite unhappy! Haha, anyways...

While we have a ton of injuries it is not unheard of to have guys step up and play better than expectations. We don't have that right now. Cogliano is doing nothing right now and he's one of the guys that I believe IS healthy, same for Gibby.

I wasn't upset at the mis-spelling, but just giving Philly a rough time.
