HEY! Where is TSN's headline and story on Kaleta's boarding hit on Ross, thrusting his face into the glass and leaving him unconscious??? If Briere got two games, Kaleta deserves at least 5, for this hit!

Briere's story was posted after he was suspended. I'd imagine if Kaleta is suspended it'll also make headlines.

For the record, I'd give him 2-3 games, I don't think it warranted 5. I also saw it in person from a relatively close angle, for what it's worth.

I didn't think Briere deserved anything; the officals didnt even call anything -- because there was nothing to call. He got his elbow and stick high, but it sure wasn't intentional; therefore, not deserving any suspension.

If it weren't for the raw deal Briere and evenmoreso the FLyers got, then I'd agree. But, based on Briere's suspension, the implication is the league is cracking down on shots to the head, and Kaleta's hit was a lot more dangerous than was Briere's hit.

i agree to a certain extent, but briere connected with that hit after the whistle.

if the league was really after us, richie woulda got a few games too. as much as i'd like to believe the league as a whole has it out for us, just doesn't click here.

i wouldn't say the league consciously has anything in for any team; i think its more a subconscious thing, that comes about from chatter, among other things..... after Richards' hit on Booth, headshots became a big topic of discussion again, and in particular Richard's hit on Booth was discussed heavily around the league, behind closed doors.... subconsciously, i think some people in managment, officials and others associatted with professional hockey have developed indifferent thought about the Flyers -- this can lead to a disadvantage in the way a major sports websites, like TSN, cover a story; in the way some officials call the game; in the way league management chooses to handle player suspensions..... in other words, i do not doubt there are many individuals associated with professional hockey who hold the FLyers in not high regard, and this does influence their professionalism, whether they realize it or not.

After seeing the hit a few times, it looked like one of those instances where the player turns his back pretty late on the checking player. It was still a dangerous play though, it wasn't all on Ross, but I'm not screaming for a long suspension for Kaleta. He did get the major and game misconduct, so I'd say maybe a 1-2 game suspension if there is one at all.

What does it matter if it's on TSN, or not? Who gives a ****.

All I care is that it gets reviewed and Kaleta (hopefully) sits for a game or two.

I think the point is that, if it were Cote hitting a Leaf (for example), it would have been all over the Canadian media. Front page centre.

I thought that was one of the benefits of being a Flyers fan?

exactly the point.... i'm looking for some consistency in the way these headshots and, i suppose, now, even high hits (like Briere's hit on Hannan) are:

1) covered in the media
2) handled by the league

Turning your back to Kaleta is like waving a red cape in front a bull. My favorite part is when he turtled instead of fighting cote. He's exactly the type of player that shouldn't be in the NHL.

The media what covers what sells. Obviously the Flyers have more selling power than the Sabres...be thankful for that.

As for the league -- I have a hard time believing that Kaleta won't have a meeting with Campbell.

Like I said on the main board, I'd rather see Kaleta get his face punched in than receive a suspension.

TSN gets most of their money by covering Canadian teams, hence its web address...did you check THN, cause their coverage is much less Canadian centric.

Neither of the teams from that game are Canadian, so it becomes a story on the back burner. If a suspension arrises, I am sure they will have a story, but it won't be big news. Danny Briere is a highly paid French Canadian skill player, and its kind of a funny story in itself that he got suspended for a hit. Kaleta and Ross are two nobodies in the grand scheme of Hockeydom. And for a good reference on how suspensions are handed out see below:

It won't get a headline unless he's suspended, which I didn't think he would be. I just won't give Kaleta the benefit of the doubt because people who aren't Sabres fans know what kind of player he is.

Someone told me the other day that the fact he's played 118 games or whatever and was never suspended was proof that he is a clean player.

Guess not anymore?

Yeah, that thread and I had to part ways. Sabres fans are delusional. Next time he'll get 5 games and the time after that he should get 15.
