They're not going to keep giving Purcell chance after chance to produce. Simmonds, Moller, Schenn, and Loktionov are destined for top 6 positions in the upcoming years. IMO it's best to get something for him now and move Frolov back up to the top line until Smyth comes back.
If Purcell moves, I think it'll be a Latendresse-for-Pouliot type trade (ie. established but currently struggling NHL player for a young prospect with potential that he hasn't lived up to yet).
Clowe/Cheechoo/Nilsson/etc are the type of guys I could see Purcell being traded for.
Check w/ Chicago. I'm still pushing for Sharp. I don't know those two would go in that trade but I want someone who is physical and can score.
Chicago are aiming for the cup. That means they will keep Sharp unless they upgrade and that is certainly not even close to Purcell-land. Also, Chicago will keep their core next summer.
I'd look at guy like Ryan Malone from TB. Not sure if TB would deal him but he or a player like him would be a nice addition to this team.
McDonald from STL wouldn't be a bad guy to look at. He'd be an ideal 2nd line center behind Kopi. He has a cup. Not sure what he'd cost. Purcell + ....

Who else needs scoring in the west? St. Louis, Minnesota and Nashville would be good partners in that regard. St. Louis needs a PP guy, and I think Purcell might compliment Perron in St. Louis. Suprising that Kariya and McDonald haven't helped them in that area. Kariya might be an interesting option. Looking at both Nashville and Minnesota's rosters i see a lot of garbage. NHL expansion has really held this league back.
It needs Dustin Brown and Alexander Frolov to start scoring goals.
It needs Ryan Smyth and Jared Stoll healthy
It needs Rob Scuderi back on defense and finding his defensive minded game
Everything we need is right here. With a coach who I hope allows a more puck possession game, this team can and will make the playoffs and may even go deep.
Back to the word "yet". When the time is right, a veteran force is necessary - Owen Nolan is on a Minnesota team that is not going anywhere - a team that is badly in need of prospects. Do not be surprised to see Purcell go for Nolan at the trade deadline especially if the Kings are well in the playoff hunt.
I find it funny that every team has players that the fans always rant should be traded away cause they suck while at the same time they demand the sky in return. If you think the player is crap, why would another team give you more then crap in return?

Go Kings.
I hate to break it to you but Dustin Brown and Alexander Frolov are not EVER going to lead this team to the promised land. Brown eats up quality minutes on the PP and still can't find a consistent scoring touch and on a contract year Alexander Frolov looks as uninterested as ever (and I'm a huge Fro fan).
I'm hoping one day soon that Schenn, Moller and Loktionov will show us real hockey and passion.

Sure, you may be right especially about Frolov. But, you don't know for certain anymore than I do. I do know that Frolov and Brown have both hit 30 goals before. I also know each is capable of doing it again. The issue is simply "will" and if they don't have it, neither Brown nor Frolov will be wearing a Kings jersey this time 2011. No player on this team is indispensable.
