If the Sharks can get that first goal it'll take a huge chunk wind out of the Blues' sails. Gotta believe they'll come out real hard though. This should be Nabokov's biggest test of the series.

3-1 Sharks. Goals from Korky, Marleau and Stuart / Weight. Nabokov 37 saves. Osgood 23.

Wilson said they view this as a Game 7... I think we'll come out strong as well, and set the tone of the game.

I think it'll be 4-1 Sharks, just like the series (we hope). Cheechoo, Primeau, Parker (well maybe not, but he's raring to go, lol. Ok, make that Vinnie...), and Korky.

Sillinger or Weight for St. Louis.

Anyone want to place bets on how many penalties Pronger takes?

GO SHARKS!!

If the Blues play inspired hockey tonight....the Sharks win 4-2 with an ENG by Damphousse or Ricci.

If the Blues don't play inspired hockey tonight....Sharks on the order of 6-1.

Not that I'm down on the Blues...but the 2nd period of Game 4 spoke volumes about this team's desire to put it all on the line to win when they need to. They don't have any of that desire.

I could go for that - course I probably won't have a voice tomorrow if they do, lol...

I'm thinking I'm going to revise my prediction and say Nabby with the shutout.

Sharks!!! Great game, Great series!! I can't wait for the next series! Osgood looked great for the Blues, he was clearly there best player. Stuart, Smith, and Ricci with the goals. Also Goc got his first ever point in his first ever game. This time off will be great for guys like McCauley, Thornton. GO SHARKS!

Now that St.Louis has been knocked out of the first round two years in a row, is it time to dismantle? I would say yes. Their best players are only going to go downhill from here, so I think it would be best to start over.

nabokov and the san jose penalty kill just completely owned this series, and as long as they have those two things, they can beat anyone in the league.

nabokov series mvp

and i hope they play colorado in the next round.

i totally agree, was thinking the same thing with about 10 minutes left in the third. they're basically a one-line team and that line is easily shut down. at this point, i would keep pronger (if he'd stay through a rebuilding), and get what ever i could for the stars.

Look at the age of the Leaf's core and the Wings core. Top players typically don't "go downhill" nearly as fast as suggested by a lot of people on HF. Its simply myth.

That said, I would not be surprised to see St. Louis try to move a couple of expensive core players. Not sure they have or wish to expend the additional resouce$ required to augment the current bunch (as they already have a high payroll). And the current roster may have reached it zenith.

Dismantle? No.

Change? Yes.

That was sweet!!!

Great work by Goc and Smith for the game winner!!

That's good news from Wilson that Thorty and McCauley will be back in soon... I was concerned about Thorty coming back at all.

Well, Pronger somehow kept himself out of the box tonight... too bad, I saw someone made a sign for the PB that said "Pronger's Playpen"...

Personally, I think they should let Pronger go... he's a top D, but so much money and half the time he hurts them with his attitude. The Blues have talent, but attitude problems hurt them way too much of the time. The Sharks have shown you can succeed without a lot of high-price veterans.... Let Pronger go to the Rangers (sorry, Ranger fans...)

This may be a homer moment, and I know IB is going to get a good laugh about this, but the officiating tonight seemed particularly inconsistent.

When I saw Baron get called for hooking in the 1st period bringing down the charging Guppy (EDIT - Dimitrakos) who was racing in on a breakaway I questioned it even then. The hooking itself gave Baron position on the player, but I didn't see the refs hand go up until after the Shark was sent flying to the ice in what I thought was a very legal takedown. Regardless, I've seen worse in this series as far as hooking goes get ignored. I figured that it was a bad buzz that Baron got the penalty, but if that's the way the refs were going to call the game, then that's the way they were going to call it.

Just a couple of minutes after the Baron call, Jamal Mayers got sandwiched between two Sharks at the offensive blue line in what seemed to be a clear cut interference call (the puck was maybe within 20 feet of all three players and Mayers was tripped up by a stick/lower leg and was obviously designed to impede Mayers' progress). No call, and while Mayers (hurt if I may point out) is slowly skating to the bench, the Sharks fire one past a helpless Osgood and the score is 2-1.

Again, maybe it's a homer moment. Not that it decided the series though; the Blues poor play decided the series in Game 2.
