I've decided I'm getting drunk for the game on Thursday, to see if that helps. Of course, it's an Eastern time zone game so it starts at 4 in the afternoon, but I shouldn't let that stop me, right?

Hemsky is gone. Khabibulin's back will keep him out for the start of the trip at the very least. Denis Grebeshkov is recovering from knee surgery. Mike Comrie is out with mononucleosis. Fernando Pisani is out with colitis. Shawn Horcoff is playing with a bad shoulder.

Can someone tell me when Grebs had knee surgery? I thought it was just a knee injury and there was no surgery.

I think that article is wrong - Grebs has a torn MCL which doesn't usually require surgery from what I've read. I don't think the Oilers ever reported he had surgery.

Actually it's a partially torn MCL. A torn MCL I believe normally requires surgery.

I was just going by this, I don't know for sure.

http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/knee...clinjury_2.htm

Treatment of a medial collateral ligament injury rarely requires surgical intervention. Almost always, some simple treatment steps, along with rehabilitation, will allow patients to resume their previous level of activity. The time before an athlete is able to return to their sport corresponds to the grade of the injury.

But back to your original question, I don't think Grebs had surgery.

I believe this is required reading. Ferraro is dead on in his analysis and shame on Oiler management for standing pat with this lineup. Doctor Quinn is good but he's no miracle worker.

Brownlee has now also said that Grebeshkov had knee surgery. That's two places that mentions that Grebeshkov had knee surgery but there's nothing about knee surgery on the Oilers website.
