Game 31: Columbus at Nashville (12/10 8pm, FSN Ohio) "Attack of the Jackets" Edition

In the continuing saga of good versus evil, the Columbus Blue Jackets again return to the Nashville Death Star to try and take two points away from galactic division enemy Darth Trotz, Boba Tootoo and the Stormtroopers...

10 games ago, Rick Skywalker, Steve Solo, and Obi Wan Hitchcock were only half-successful, losing the battle. They had the lead three times, blew it, but managed to take a point from their clash with the Empire...

Tonight, the Rebellion looks to redeem themselves and even the six-game series (which is ironic seeing as there have been six Star Wars movies)...

CBJ Last 10: 2-5-3
Last Battle: CBJ 3 FLA 0
CBJ Special Ops: 2nd, 23.7%
CBJ defense when understaffed: 78.7%, 19th

Probable Rebel Forces:
Huselius-Vermette-Nash
Chimera-Umberger-Voracek
Torres-Brassard-Dorsett
Murray-Pahlsson-Boll

Hejda-Commodore
Tyutin-Stralman
Russell-Methot

Garon
Mason

NSH Last 10- 6-3-1. Ugh.
Last Confrontation- NSH 4 VAN 2
Evil Man Advantage- 17.2%, 24th
Vader's Man-down defenses- 78.1%, 22nd

Probable Imperial Troops:
Sullivan-Arnott-Erat
Smithson-Legwand-Ward
CheapShotArtist-Goc-Dumont
Jones-O'Reilly-Hornqvist

Weber-Suter
Bouillon-Sulzer
Klein-Hamhuis

Rinne
Ellis

These are two critical points...The Rebellion usually doesn't fare well on the road against Evil.

Love the pictures.. however we will not win this one. I see us getting a three goal lead then losing 5-3

Hope I'm wrong but we can't beat the preds when they suck so we won't beat them when we suck

The aura of the Sommet Center gets to the Jackets.

Jackets get a 2 goal lead to begin the first period but drop 6 straight to lose 6-2.

Yeah, last night was a step forward, but tonight will be a step or half-step back. We just can't win in that damn building. I think it's the country music.

Jackets lose 5-0. For those scoring at home:

1. I like it. I love it. I want some more of it.
2. I like it. I love it. I want some more of it.

Just get a point. Then we'll worry about a second point.

Of course, it'd be nice if we could win one in 60 in their building...

God, that's harsh. Hopefully it doesn't go down that badly.

hahaha.. now that is funny.

I'm hoping this game is over by the end of the first period, but I wouldn't be opposed to a close game.

Jackets win 2-1 in a nauseatingly boring, Hitch-gasm inducing game. We don't even attempt to score on the empty net, as he refuses to let any of our guys leave our zone in the final minute of play.

However in penitence to the fans who managed to stay awake till the end, Hitchcock uncovers a suspiciously vulnerable, entirely unguarded A/C duct outside the Sommet Center, and with one well-placed shot as the Jackets leave town...

I'm predicting whistles, country music, and that stupid "You Suck!" chant over and over again tonight.

Can we sign this guy? Negotiations with him will be rough, because he's immune to mind control. But he blocks a lot of defensive zone, and apparently, has skates bolted directly to his belly.

This "Star Wars" analogy has brought us nothing but trouble since it was made.

Fire Portzline (or whoever made it.)

We need a new theme. Any suggestions?

IMO, It's time to switch to a Twilight theme. I don't care much for it, but if the winds are blowing that way, then we should probably blow as well.

No televised game from Nashville would be complete without the obligatory Vince Gill sighting, as well as the old "Pom Pom" lady who sits behind the Preds bench and seemingly is incapable of taking her eyes off of the jumbotron.

Divisional road game vs a team 3pts ahead of us in the standings.

We'll win this, simply because its going to be the most challenging game we've played in weeks.

Tkachuk is already signed elsewhere though.

Given our team's record in Nashville over the years, I'm thinking disaster movie. The Poseidon Adventure? Towering Inferno?? Airport??? Earthquake????

Contrary to popular belief, our team can win in Nashville; they just need the right.... inspiration. Where's Henry Winkler when you need him?

Didn't Hitchcock call them our Darth Vader?

I don't think they're Darth Vader. The Star Wars saga ultimately has a happy ending.

No fang fingers for yours truly:

CBJ - 2
Preds - 35

Boll scores a safety after the Preds are caught laughing in their own end after their 5th TD.
