OT: Hat tip to Stauffer for his remarks on Oilers Lunch

regarding West Virginia U's sterling reputation of having great running quarterbacks

I happen to be a WVU alum, and loved hearing someone clear out in Edmonton throw some praise to my beloved Mountaineers.

no hat tip to Stauffer for selling out and becoming an Oilers PR guy.

Obviously I'm with you on this one.

The old adage still holds true: "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer." It especially holds true in this case with Stauffer and the Oilers.

Ya the beginning of Oilers lunch was pure garbage. Stauffer kept spewing garbage and was just pointing out all the good moves Lowe had made. Good thing his sidekick had to remind him he has also made several crappy ones.

Just out of curiosity, what was the context of him making these remarks?

He was just going deal by deal and asking if you would still do it.

Like if you could go back would you have done it type of situation. So he kept picking obvious one like the signing of Souray or the offersheet to Penner now that he has finally broken out.

what's even more heinous is the fact that he's doing PR for the oilers and then trying to be a reporter at lunchtime..

Obvious ones as in any GM would have done it, or obvious as in they were obviously Lowe's best moves?

I think Penner free agent signing might have been one of Lowe's craziest moves that has panned out. I certainly can't think of any other GM willing to do that at the time...

Pap or not, it is certainly better than what was there before. I have enjoyed Bob's show and am glad that he is on the Team again. His access is second to none.

Obvious as in Lowes best moves. If this was last year Stauffer wouldn't have made a peep about Penner. But now that Penner is lighting em up Stauffer is tooting KLowes horn saying it was a brilliant move.

Disclaimer before I even start. It is not an all or nothing statement and does not mean I support every Lowe move

But the moment he made the Penner signing he said that it is going to look like an overpay for the first two years and then it would pay off.

Sounds like he knew exactly what would happen and the time it would take for Penner to develop.

Lowe clearly said it would be a contract for him to grow into. He made no promises on the first few seasons. It's clear Lowe saw something in Penner, and made a move. It was a good move. That and the Pronger deal are among Lowe's best. Even the Roli deal was great too.

Trading away Cory Cross (who still had a year left) for a Sergei Samsonov rental has to be in the top-3 somewhere.

The Brule move for Torres is starting to look good as well.

Cross went for Tarnstrom. Reasoner and a pick went for Samsanov.

So why didn't he use that kind of foresight when doing up the Horcoff deal A YEAR EARLY?

Just like how he knew Lupul would develop into a forty goal guy or how Horcoff would be a 100 pt. first line center or how Pisani would score thirty or how Staios would be that shut down guy. Another thing to ponder is if he knew Penner was going to pay off, why did he include him in a trade this summer for a superstar he knew would be ok with coming here?

The only thing Klowe knows for sure is that he probably has a job for life with the pharmacy fan boy in charge.

Lowe didn't try to trade Penner. Tambo did. Big difference.

Used to love total sports because of Bob's hard line when it came to the oilers and esks. He spoke his mind, no sugarcoating. In fact, he'd rip on "other stations" that saw the oilers thru rose coloured glasses. Now he works for them and is a culprit of his past criticisms.

It was Tambi. Tambi is the GM. When will people realize that Tambi is the GM.
