It't Dustember first, don't forget to turn your calendar page. Let's put O'vember behind us and hope for the best this month

i don't get why people keep saying the oilers should "tank" the season.

the team is most likely going to finish bottom 5 without any kind of conscious decision to "tank".

I will only panic if we are getting to late march adn we sit around 10th in the standings. Right now we are lined up for a top 5 pick and everything seems AOK. If we do turn it on and get a playoff spot then great. But if we are hovering 11th-9th then I will have a sick feeling in my tummy.

Bottom 5 isn't good enough, we need to finish bottom 2.

My vote was more tongue and cheek. I chose option B. I don't want to make excuses but how many man games lost can any team in the nhl live through to make the playoffs?

Wasn't this more or less what we thought the Oilers would do going in to the new year?

The answer was supposed to be a little sarcastic, that's why I gave some other "fun" options too.

^^^^This

I hate rooting for the Dive 4 Five stuff especially so early in the season but i find myself rooting for the Oilers to play well but lose and hoping for the lesser teams to win..... I'm thinking (worried) that this Oiler team is not bad enough to finish bottom five especially when Khabibulin comes back and they will finish 9th-10th in the conference and draft 9 or 10 again..... This will be another angry offseason in Oil Country.

Kinda curious why TSN didn't pick that game up.

I am not panicing--I am trying to stress other people out.

We knew going into this year we would be hard pressed to make the playoffs

I am hoping that Tambolini does not do a panic move and do a trade that puts the oilers into their usual 10th to 15th spot.

and as for the suggestion that by playing Cogs, Brule, and Gagner too much--it goes without saying that atleast one of those will not be back next season--due to the fact the oilers will not have the cap space to get them the contracts that they will want--I predict a Kessel type deal coming--just not getting the oilers anything more then a late first round and second round pick

From their schedule, looks like they went with the Leafs and the Islanders. Guess they figured Tavares was the bigger draw.

And TSN2, well they really want to show the Tim Horton's Roar of the Rings apparently.

A lot of intelligent proposals in this article, but simply too many for a GM to pull of. IMO the most critical moves are losing some of the smallish skilled minis we have, preferably Nillson and Cogliano. Also important is moving Gilbert, given Tambo is able to resign Grebeshkov. It also wouldn't hurt to shed the fatty contracts clogging our arteries. Thru trade or waivers, it's gotta happen.

Not gonna lie but that is probably a pretty big deal on TSN2. The winne rof that tourney represents Canada in Vancouver.
