The Oilers have 65 games left. If he can get into all of them (minus one) he'll sneak into Group II.

Also, maybe wait until he scores his first career NHL goal before calling him the second coming of Glencross.

How easy it is to forget just how effective Glencross was during his brief time with us. Stone was a nice addition but he's nowhere near the player Glenx is/was. I think a big reason of why he's so appreciated is the fact that he's one of the maybe 2 or 3 forwards we have that will consistently play a physical game.

He's no Glencross. Still, I hope Oilers sign him. 2 years 1.5M sounds fair at this point.

What is the rush to sign all these people now? Did we not learn anything from the Horcoff signing?

It's okay. If the oilers want to keep him he'll stay.

He has the rest of the season to show us what he has. Tambo needs to take his time with this one.

And if you rush to give away too many chicken nuggets prematurely, what kind of a mess do you have? The premise is still the same even if the figures aren't. Good grief, the kid hasn't even played a dozen games for us yet, and hasn't even scored a goal, but you want to get the pen and paper out already. Based on our history for jumping the gun on contracts, maybe, just maybe, we should show a wee bit of patience and see what some of these guys have before we open the vault. The margin for error in this organization has been reduced to a sliver. We simply can't afford to make more signing mistakes at this point.

Keep this in perspective. Manny Malhotra signed for $700K. Mike Peca, Radek Bonk and a host of others failed to get NHL deals. I like Stone, but it is not like there will be twenty teams waiting to throw big money at him.

makes me think...how much better woudl the team be if they had signed peca or bonk for 700K and waived Nilsson?

Oilers have 55 games left. And I did not compare him to Glenx as an player but I tried to compare their contract situations

It's funny how many people like Stone this year when last year they were *****ing about how Tamby got ripped off and traded Garon for nothing.

No, he would have said 2 years $3 mil if he meant 1.5 per
As far as Stone is concerned, he hasn't proven nearly enough to warrant a 2 year contract and comparing him to Glencross is crazy, Glencross is a much more effective player imo he always had second-third line potential in my eyes, i don't see that in Stone.

Unless he is signing for 600k why sign the guy now? I wait until he actually plays 20 games in a row. He isn't very good offensively either so the odds are even he plays the best hockey he is capable of teams aren't going to be offering much more than 900k.

Yeah but usually thery wait too long on depth guys and let them get away like Hedja and Glencross.
