Valiquette on Waivers

I can almost guarantee we put in a claim on him, considering Khabi's condition and JDD's recent play. He's the perfect short-term stop-gap and has actually played here before.

Also, it would give us another 6'5" goaltender

I remember when we had him than lost him than got him back again, unless that was a dream. I think if they know Khabbi's out for a while, they claim him. Otherwise we keep going with the 2 kids.

I don't waat a stop gap though. Let it continue. Not that I think Steve will turn this team around.

Might be a good thing so that Dubnyk can go to the minors and continue to develop instead of having to come into 4-0 games.

I think that would be the reasoning for me, too.

Pass on Valiquette from me... If the oilers wanted him they wouldve had him via trade by now... Sather mustve asked around before waiving him..

This is the time for us to see if Dubnyk is ready for the big show... JDD has pretty much failed to secure the roster spot for next yr.. One of them will not be with this organization next yr and this is the time to find out.

<and this will help us tank>

This was my initial thought. Then I quickly thought about it and was like oh ya this is Valiquette. It's not like the guy is gonna help us to an amazing 8th palce finish. He is an upgrade on what we have. But the guy will just turn 7-3 games into 5-3 or 4-3 games.

I could care less if it was 10-3. The season is pretty much lost IMO. At least if you tank, make it look good

To give JDD more support and allow Dubnyk to continue to develop, it makes sense. I wonder what direction the Rangers are going in? Montoya?

I wouldn't mind putting in a claim for him, allow Dubnyk to go back to the AHL.

Read much. I'm saying thats the only difference Valiquette would bring to the team. It's not like he would be a difference maker that would bring us a winning streak of more than one game. Bringing him in would help because it would give Dubnyk more time to develop in the minors.

Nope. Rumour has it their AHL team traded him.

I would definitely be in favour of putting in a claim.

What? How could they do something like that, he was a sure fire HHOFer, just like Brian Finley.

You must be thinking of Markkanen

I dunno about developing Dubs. I think 20 games up here would work for Dubnyk though I think that'll bring him to that whole waiver situation maybe?
Regardless, he seemed calm enough during that shellacking. He gets peppered down in the A, why not just learn what it takes to get peppered by the big boys

I'm not saying they shouldn't put in a claim, but I'd frankly be shocked if they did.

Ya he did. I just don't know how good of an idea it would be to keep a young goalie like Dubnyk in a ****** situation like this. The team is a mess, probably better situation than last season but who knows. But you are right he did seem to remain fairly calm when he came in.

But if you know he is in a tough spot and knew he was lily to go on waiver would you trade for him? Just like the Islanders and Schremp, we probably shopped him around, but the Islanders knew he was going on waivers so why you you trade for him.

As for if we should get him I am not sure, once Bulin gets back do we just put him back on waivers?

In all seriousness, what are the Rangers going to do? I know they claimed Christensen so they had to make space, but they need someone to give Lundqvist a break, especially in an Olympic year. Do they have a guy in the AHL playing well?
