Trade for either Sidney Crosby or Ovechkin. Horcoff, Gager, Cogliano, Penner, Souray, Vishnovsky, and two 1st rounders ought to get it done for either.

On an actually serious note, I'd say move Nilsson for a late pick, waive Moreau (if only), and trade O'Sullivan for someone bigger. I'd also move one of Grebeshkov or Gilbert, and my choice is Gilbert.

Mueller for Cogs? Change of scenery for both players? Could work for both teams. I'm down

Nobody, this season is like a Tire Fire, you just have to let itself burn out.

Grab a beer and let it burn.

Out of the most "reliable" rumours i have heard this season, I would say acquiring Mueller is the best option. Sending Cogliano (As much as i like him) would be a fair trade.

Also, I would dump Moreau for a 4th rounder, 3rd if it could be squeaked out of a team. And I would trade Gilbert for a Ryan Suter type player...not that i am suggesting he is available...or get Matt Greene back from LA.

Moreau and Staios

I think that we have tools to win next year. We have just too many small skilled guys and underachievers. We should get rid of Moreau, Staios, Nilsson, Strudwick, and Sully or Gogs.

I think we can request Nylander and Caps 2nd round pick for Nilsson and Staios and we will get it. Staios can really help them in the play off run and contarcts are same value.

I would like to see a bit more from guys like Potulny, Peckham, Chorney, Stone, Jacques, Brule. Lets see if these guys can fill some voids internally and then look at filling in the holes.

I think waiting until someone becomed desparate because of injury might be a better way then saying hey we are open to trading just about anyone.

Cogliano I think is on the outs and needs a change of scenery

I like the mueller idea

It is time to rebuild the foundation of the team

Sadly I have to agree, I always liked Cogliano more but he just seems to not get a break with this club.

Hemsky. We should package him up with whatever else it takes to get a legitimate superstar in Edmonton.

Does Hemsky always outperform his cheap contract?

It would be interesting to see if hemsky scored more than the ten guys below him in salary. Or if he scored more than the 10 or 15 guys ahead of him.

I am not convinced.

Cogliano for Mueller + 3rd
O'Sullivan for Backes
Grebeshkov for 1st
Moreau for 3rd
Gilbert for expiring contract + 3rd

Penner-Brule-Hemsky
Eberle-Backes-Gagner
Mueller-Horcoff-Stone
Jacques-Potulny-Stortini

thats looks more like a Quinn team.

Steve Staios to Columbus for Michael Blunden

And just for fun:

Horcoff, Nilsson, Plante and Omark for Lecavalier and Ranger

Do you honestly believe that?

I think we have had a bad team for so long, people in this town have become "Vancouverized". You can't create a championship team building around a mediocre player.

Hemsky is a mediocre player - after six full season in the NHL it is time to realize he just ain't going to get any better. He is what he is and that is mediocre. He cannot carry this team on his back, he is not the player to build around. He is a complimentary player and will never be a dominant, superstar, leader type. Nothing wrong with that but when you factor in his give aways and disappearing acts he is worth about $4 million.

With Hemksy carrying the team, we have missed the playoffs three years in a row. How does that make Hemsky an incredible bargain? Hemsky is a complimentary player like Kovalev or Gomez, not the kind of player you build a championship team around.

If the Hemsky contract is the bargain you say it is, we shouldn't have a problem trading him for someone that can really lead this team to contention.
