Habs Inside/Out reporting he's been traded to Anaheim for a 4th rounder.

Kyle Chipchura is officially a bust. Sad.

Well, can't say this is surprising. Hopefully a 2010 pick.

I'm disappointed. I liked Chipchura a lot and I think he could have been better for us. He had some great flashes...I don't see why he couldn't be a 4th line centre for us. But this is a great move for him.

My reaction:

1. Sad that he is pretty much officially a bust now. When he was drafted, I was happy we had finally drafted that big, physical center we always wanted. I wonder how much his injury(torn achilles heel) set back his development.

2. Glad we got a 4th rounder for him, that seems fair value. I just hope it's this year as we're short on picks in what's looking like a deep draft.

3. Glad we opened up another contract spot. We're now at 48 if I count correctly which means we have flexibility when it comes to a trade/waiver wire/or even signing a college/european UFA towards the end of the year like a Gilroy or Brunnstrom.

4. Does this mean one of Pyatt/White have officially made the team? I would think so.

ok but does that make us better ?
4th rounder ?
At 500K it's not even a salary dump.

Martin at it again. He told Gainey his favorite sentence "I can't do anything with him".

Next year we'll have a team full of Pyatt's and White's. Players who are willing to execute the plan without trying anything fancy. Always trying the safe play but never generating anything offensively. Oh wait it's basically already like that this year.

Ok ok I wasn't a fan of Chipchura so I'm not sad or frustrated.
Just that it's funny to see how Martin is getting rid of players after just a few games with the team.

If White is sent back to Hamilton, it would be a disgrace. Hopefully he stays. We absolutely need the energy he brings.

Couldn't care less about Chipchura seriously, he was a bust anyway...

Is this even confirmed? Right now, Habs I/O is reporting that CJAD is reporting Chip's been traded.

Oh, who am I kidding?

I'm also disappointed. He showed flashes, but never really put it together. Injuries took their toll on him, I'm afraid.

Chipchura wasn't exactly an offensive dinamo... If anything thats one less defensive player which means more playing time for either Pouliot or Sergei Kostitsyn. I'm fine with either Pyatt, White or Lapierre as our fourth line centers moving forward.

I don't see how you could take this guy out. He is getting better and better. I love it.

I wonder if it also means that Pouliot is ready to play?

How can we say that? For us he was. How's Gilbert Brûlé "the bust" doing?

My thoughts too. I hope he stays up, I liked what he's brought to the team, I just hope he can keep it up over the rest of the season.

It seems like our rookies do that a lot, play really well the first 10-15 games then slowly fade out. Happened with D'Agostini(remember how hot he was when he first came up?), Pacioretty(although he is playing much better now, he also looked great when he first came up then didn't do as well although that may be due to injury), Price(was great in at the end of the 07-08 regular season and we all know what happened in the playoffs.

Anyways I'm pulling for White. Really like the kid so far.

Good move for everyone involved. I hope Chips becomes a serviceable NHL player... I know he will never be a star but he has hockey sense, he works hard and has some skills.

Chipper is like minus a million with no points on the board since he's a NHLer.

It's sad, but he was a liability out there.

Oh well it was either this or put him on Waivers were we would have surely lost him for nothing. I'm glad we got a 4th round pick for him.

After that injury he seemed to never really recover but I wish him the best of luck with the ducks!

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like this trimming of the fat might be in preperation of a trade. That's over a million in additional cap space with Leach and Chips gone and we still don't have a full roster yet.
