Toronto First round pick

Is there a possibility that the bruins might move this pick?

They'd move their own pick before they move Toronto's.

Unless Toronto goes on a huge winning streak, no, I doubt it. A potential top 3 pick in a cap world is gold.

Well, they certainly wouldn't move it as it stands right now, it's the second overall pick. However, if the Leafs continue their play of late and slowly battle their way up the standings that pick becomes less valueable to the Bruins, andd by the deadline they may entertain moving it for a cup run.

I doubt they'd move it. They have the ability to stockpile some fine talent that would contribute for peanuts for a few years. They're in really good shape both now and later and really have no reason to alter their route. I know i would just keep things as they are and trust the scouts to make the best of it.

With what the pick is now (at top 5 this year). It would take a large overpayment. Maybe next years can be had, but I don't see Boston moving the pick this year.

There's always a possibility. It would take a lot though.

If the Leafs go on a tear (here's to hope!), they might move it if the Leafs end up out of Top 5 or even Top 10.

I would consider moving it but it's tough to dream up a deal that makes sense. The Bruins are tight up against the cap. They also can't take on a lot of cap space for next year because they still need to sign Stuart and Wheeler. Getting draft picks for Kessel was a wise move for Boston because it will help them manage the cap, improve and keep the team together.

I think they might.

The Leafs have been playing well as of late, and it's possible they become a middle-of-the-pack team by the deadline.

Boston is still a playoff team and could use that pick for a rental at the deadline.

They have their own pick to move at the deadline which should be able to get them one of the better players available.

A late first and a roster player with pedigree/potential is usually enough for most deals that aren't for actual superstars, so they'll probably hang onto the first unless they go crazy and trade a ton of firsts for Kovalchuk.

To Edmonton? Not a chance. There is not a package they can put together without including their 1st... and I'm guessing the point is getting 2 high picks.

I agree. Minimun Brule/Penner + 1st and 2nd Oilers 2010 (Oilers would never do that).

Why would the oilers trade their 2010 first round pick when Edmonton could very well finish below Toronto?

Boston will wait until the end of the year to see what type of pick they have.

This trade is a joke,Boston ends up moving up in the draft and aquire's a 30 goal scorer.

This just isn't going to end well...

I would say Boston trades it + a roster player this year because it won't be in the top 5 and they are capable of contending again with an upgrade.

Very funny, how do you want Toronto 1st 2010, without give up your 1st or good players? Just as I said, Oilers would never do that and Boston not going give up Toronto 1st by garbage.

it just does not make sense. No team that is in the bottom 3 is going to trade away their pick with a 2nd just to flip picks unless it is at the draft to move up.

I doubt they move the pick unless Toronto surges up the standings. If Toronto remains in the bottom 5 by season's end, the Bruins will be guarding that pick with their life.

Good bye Kessel. Hello Hall/Seguin/Kabanov/Fowler etc.

Now would be the best time for the Bruins to trade the pick.

The Leafs aren't going to make the playoffs but they're not going to be a bottom 5 team either.

What are you talking about? The Oilers fan said that the Oilers pick might be higher than Torontos, so why on earth would the Oilers need to add their 2nd and Penner? If the Oil draft 5th overall and the Leafs draft 10th overall, why would Edmonton trade down and also give up their assests? He wasn't saying he expected to trade crap and get good players in return, he was merely stating the obvious in saying that it simply didn't make sense.
