Team 990 rumor.........

Apologies if this doesn't deserve it's own thread... heard on 990 one of the guests said his sources have said Montreal is discussing with Edmonton Visnovsky, names going other way were Andrei Kostitsyn and O'Byrne.

Add your 1st round pick and we still wouldn't do it.

Bleh.

Nope, because that's not enough for Visnovsky.

Sounds like another "Reliable source" (Eklund or Maguire) saying what they feel is a 'fair' trade from their perspective.

Montreal would have to ask themselves, what are we willing to give up to be a lock for the playoffs, because a combination of Vish and Montreal's roster would be that.

I just can't see them parting ways with Vish.

Edmonton gets fleeced in that deal. So badly, I would lose all hope on this franchise. Add in a first for this year and next years draft and maybe, that would get it done. Maybe.

I would since Montreal could have a top 10 pick.

If it's

Horcoff, Nilsson and Visnovsky

for

Plekanec, The good Kostitsyn, O'Byrne and a 1st in 2009

Then maybe the Oilers are listening.

Not sure it'd be that high if they add Vish, but we'd also gain a boat load of cap space which is itself a valuable commodity in the post-lockout NHL. He's an amazing player but if the Oilers are serious about a rebuild, unloading contracts like his for good young players/prospects and picks is the way to go. I agree that I think the player value would have to be improved to make this deal fair for us, but you might not always get fair market value if you are attempting to unload players for prospects/picks... way tougher to compare perceived value.

2 points out of the playoffs and if they get Lubo and Markov comes back from injury, they're making a push.

Lubo and Nilsson for one of the Maxes, S. Kostitsyns and a first rounder.

That's a trade worth looking at. Anything else and the Oilers get fleeced.

We're not getting full value for Lubo from anyone. Prospects and picks is the name of the game.

You can have Souray back, not Lubo.

The habs don't have cap space for this.

That's not really the Oilers' problem, they can waive guys if they want to make it work.

Really? He was acquired for a 2/3 line centre with concussion issues, and a bottom pairing physical defenseman.
I don't think that AKost and O'Byrne helps the Oilers out now, or even in the future.

You're right the Oilers ripped the Kings off, the Oilers won't make that mistake.

No way. Oilers would get fleeced there.

I would do a similar deal for Souray, though. Doubt he waives to go back there, however.

If we send out Souray and Nilsson for the Brothers K and O'Byrne (who really could turn into a great physical presence on the blue) I'd do it.

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed. I think Kostitsyn is as skilled as Hemsky and plays with a physical edge, and O'Byrne I don't know much about except he is one big mofo. Both are young.

This would also probably guarantee a top 2 pick.

If it were Lubo for O'Byrne A.Kostitsyn and their first rounder I would consider it.

Two solid young players (both 2011 rfas) and we save 1.4M against the cap for the next 2 years, and 5.6M for the next 2 years after that.
