Florida - David Booth (concussion) out
Nathan Horton (fractured tibia) out
Washington - No injuries
Pretty invisible in the first and second period of last game but in the third we got to see The Matty Show.
A hella sweet penalty shot and a hard working one.
That makes Shawn Matthias the Hot Panther of the night!
Expected Starting Goalies:
Florida: Nick Tarnasky
Washington: John Erskine

I'll honestly be happy here with one point with the way the Caps have been on absolute fire over the past two weeks. Only though if we come back to tie the game to go into overtime though. I don't think I've ever been so infuriated after the last game when we let them come back and then win in the shootout.
I think we're going to need to score some goals this time around. I hate when the Panthers play Washington...if ever there was a lopsided matchup for us, this team is definitely it.
we're not going to win a track meet with the caps. i think (hope) you'll see more of the same - if we've got transition early in a shift, either a) try to create something off the rush or b) chip and chase. otherwise, dump it, change, and set up in a neutral zone 1-4, as they have been doing.
the key to success (in any system, but particularly here) is picking your spots. we've been really good at that lately. i was bit unhappy with our high forward in the 1st against montreal - at one point we were outshooting them 5-3 but, even with that low shot count, they had generated several dangerous odd man rushes - but that improved as the game wore on.
if we come out and play a tad better than we did against montreal (will be tough), i can see us shutting them down and walking away with a 3-1 win. if we're about the same, they'll capitalize on/generate more chances and it'll be tough. 3-2, 4-2 either way, depending on our legs, our battle and the bounces. in the first case, i'd be very encouraged. in the 2nd (assuming a loss), i'd still be feeling ok. i don't want to see them take a step backwards in terms of discipline and execution, though; there's no time for that.
