Flyers talking to MacTavish for coaching position (mod edit: TSN confirms Laviolette)

Is there any truth to the rumor that the Flyers may be talking to Craig MacTavish to replace the recently fired John Stevens. I know Peter Laviolette's name has come up, and my wife is giving me the gears that MacT's name was mentioned on one of the radio stations today....

Was there an actual source on the MacT name or was it just "hey, MacT is looking for work, maybe he'll be considered for the job"?

I'm sure it was mentioned on the radio today by someone idly speculating. That's not exactly a scoop.

The TSN article doesn't say Laviolette was hired, just that the Hurricanes granted permission to talk to him. I actually think MacT would be a good fit with the Flyers.

I suggested Mac T on the Flyers board a few days ago, maybe some "hockey insiders" were reading that thread, lol.

Either Mac T or Laviolette could likely do well with that roster. Strong center depth, Pronger + Timo on the back end.

He may be a good fit for the Sherwood Park Flyers, but I think the Philly team has someone else in mind.

Ok...I just want to keep this on this board, but I also think MacT would be a good coach for Philly...problem is, if things go wrong, I'll never hear the end of the chrping from my "better" half ...don't tell her my secret...please!

Maybe Pronger wanted out if MacT was hired?

Well considering Pronger made it to the cup the one season he played under MacT...

MacTavish is a good coach, he would fit on a strong team like Philly.

610 WIP's Howard Eskin said that sources told him that Mike Richards will hand the "C" to Pronger. CSN is denying the report.
