By the way picard went off the ice in LA it looked like he could have some serious damage... I wouldn't expect him back for a while

I swear I saw Campoli secretly talking to Dustin Brown before the LA game.

That's too bad. He was our best defensemen after Philchenkov. This means Kuba will play even more... ugh!

Oh god..not Campoli!

I'm gonna take a shot and say that Karlsson-Campoli will be our 3rd pairing too.

I'll guess Carkner - Campoli.

Campoli's a solid bottom pairing defenseman, and is much better defensively than Picard. He really shouldn't be getting the slack he has been getting.

Carkner - Campoli is a solid bottom pair

Not this year he hasn't. Picard makes the occasional stupid play (and they tend to be pretty bad), but he's better in his own end than Campoli, and has the size to play physical. When Campoli tries to hit, it does nothing, and he's not very good positionally either.

When Picard makes a stupid play it usually is of the Schubert-kind and costs us a goal, if Campoli makes a mistake it is not as noticable.

And Campoli is smaller but can handle opposing forwards just as well as Picard in the corners, he's stronger than his size indicates.

Same, though I don't really care which (Picard or Campoli) we get rid of.

Why split up Philchenkov?

So we have more defensemen playing on their bad side.

looking forward to seeing Campoli bringing his speed tonight

He is quite effective when he skates hard, it's when he's just gliding around that teams take advantage of him.

go sens !

Hopefully Campoli will play with a new perspective, and be good.

No he isn't. Campoli has been bad this year in every way. To say he's as strong and capable handling forwards as Picard is laughable.

Over their time in Ottawa, Campoli has been better positionally than Picard. But he definitely plays smaller than Picard and that hurts him trying to maintain body position against guys who'd just run him over.

Moving forward into next season (assuming Volchenkov is extended), the only position guaranteed to be open is a bottom pairing slot for a 2nd unit off. D-man.
Philchenkov
Kuba - Karlsson (hopefully he'll be ready next year)
____ - Carkner

There's such little distinction between guys like Picard, Campoli and Lee that IMO, we should just move them out based on highest trade value to get things we want.

But the other 90% of the board didn't get their wish of not having Campoli in the lineup.

Call me crazy (go ahead!) but I'd keep Lee of the three. Picard probably has the best toolbox of the three, but I'd pick Lee after the first 10-15 game mark.

I hope Kuba can get on track, but I do not have great expectations for him. I dunno why. Other than Philchenkov + Carkner & Karlsson there shouldn't be anyone penciled in for next year.

Murray feeling one of Campoli,Picard or Karlsson would be able to play a strong PP role doesn't sound that unrealistic to me.
It just didn't work out that way, unfortunately

Because i figure phoenix doesn't have any star players. No one on their team has 10 goals. It would make more sense to split them up because there is no one on their team that we really need to match up against.
