Great game especially with Smid scoring. I still think this is an illusion but some good stuff. Nilsson with another almost complete game too which is a plus.

Good luck with that Tambellini. Hopefully Atlanta signs Kovalchuk to an extension soon to spare us the stupidity of pursuing him in the summer.
Dont give up that easily. Two wins in a row doesnt mean anything. Caroline won today too, so we havent lost any ground on 30th spot

Negatives: Gagner can't get a shot off unless he's all by himself, Quinn doesn't play Brule with Penner in OT, Gagner really needs to up his game.
That was an amazing moment. Loved the high-five with JDD right after regulation, too. The Visnovsky-Smid pairing is our best by far. Hell, they scored both regulation goals for us and were +2 (I think they were +3 last game). Great chemistry, these two have together.

Edit: Vis was only +1 this game, not +2. What a bum

If we can put the same effort in those 3 games we did against Dallas, we will definitely be over 500 after this road trip.

The sad thing about this is that we probably will lose these because they are "supposed to be" winnable

I doubt it. This team can't even tank properly and Quinn didn't sign up for a tank job either.

Plus, take the pressure off this team and they play alright ... put any expectation on them whatsoever, that's when they fold like a cheap tent. That's probably why we were able to go on that tear at the end of 2007-08, and then couldn't do anything in 08-09 when we were expected to actually make the playoffs.

That's why a shot at the net is never a bad play (well, almost never). All you need is a bit of luck or a screened goalie or a tip, etc. So many things can and do happen.

We should be happy with a road trip where we go 500, so being over 500 overall after this trip would be gravy.

I'm not a huge fan of Staios and Strudwick on the ice for the last shift of OT.

But we won!

Well, it's taken almost 30 games, but it looks like Quinn has finally got the team to show their speed. Hope the team doesn't get too self-satisfied with 2 wins. They gotta reel off about 8 straight to put themselves back into a good playoff spot.

Ya you'll get some bounces when you throw 36 shots on net.

It's all cumulative. You play well, you get more shots. You get more shots, you get more bounces.

Also not a fan of Quinn playing Cogs and Potulny over Brule in OT. (Potulny over Brule? Are you kidding me?)

I'd like someone to explain this reasoning.

I love seeing the team win and actually earn their wins, i admit to being a part of the dive for five crowd, i don't know what to think, this team actually looks like a pretty good team since Hemsky went down (not saying it's related Hemsky fans) and not against creampuffs, they deserved to win the San Jose game and deserved these last wins.
If they go on a run, i would like to see it happen in the next 10 games so we can have a good idea of where the team can go from there..... Gagner looks lost out there, his body language looks horrible, i know he's only 20 but it's a little concerning especially considering how well his linemates are playing.
I love the forechecking of the Moreau-Cogliano-Potulny line, if only they learned how to score, hopefully that'll come in time. Overall, good win lets keep it rolling

WooHoo. They hung in there. And two points.

I'm getting worried that last years Dustin Penner is showing up again. Get going big guy. We need you.

Smid/Vishnovsky is a seriously good pairing for us right now. Cogliano is learning to bring it more and more consistently. Gilbert had hit rock bottom but since then he is starting to play better, much better.

I like this coaching staff. You can see this team improving. A lot of the little things. The little things that all add up to better players and a better team. I'm having a lot more optimism going forward than I have had for a few years. Not sure about this year but I think we are on the way back.

I don't the coaching staff will let them.

From yesterday:

Or maybe its just because Hemmer isn't around to be the driver

Let's just enjoy the solid, exciting hockey that's being displayed night in or night out, win or lose.

The playoffs are in the stratosphere for this developing team right now.
