Mine is Dimitri Kalinin. He is without a doubt our future #1 D-man.
He remind's me alot of Alexie Zhitnik.
Kalinin is great at moving the puck and times jumping into the O-zone perfectly.

All time: Pat LaFontaine

currently: I'm not sure I have one on this team. It's probably between Mair, Drury and Briere.

i'm all over the map on who my favorite current sabre is
i really seem to get hooked on some guys for a few weeks or a month and then move on to the next guy
miro has been a constant though, i never seem to get upset with his play
i guess miro is 1a

Current: Chris Drury, I love the way this guy plays...he his small but always stands up for himself, hates to lose, and brings leadership to our young team

Adam Mair: Consumate team player. Hard worker. Stand up guy. Great character.

Dmitri Kalinin: Excellent, maturing defenseman. Modest. Quiet, but effective. Emerging as a great blueliner. Showing some toughness and fire.

Daniel Briere: Natural leader. Crafty scorer. Small body, big heart. Charming, likeable guy.

There are my top three, and those are the reasons why.

All time, by position:

C Lafontaine (the best Sabre skater ever, complete in ever aspect of the game)
LW Barnes (went to school with him, so he moves to wing)
RW Varada (like the grit and meanness)
D Ramsey (in awe of the shot blocking, hip checks and covering Housley's ass)
D Zhitnik (like the meanness and interesting range of skills)
G Hasek (simply the best, to the point of amazement)

Current, by position:
C Briere (fearless who came off of the waiver wire to star)
LW Drury (intense who never takes a shift off)
RW Dumont (he'd be a whipping boy if this poll was taken after last year)
D Zhitnik (same reasons as above)
D Jillson (liked him before we got him, despite his Michigan roots)
G Biron (dude has some personality, and he's a Bills fan)

I love Danny Briere. Smallest guy on the ice, yet he battles on the boards, and in most cases makes a good play with the puck. Also, I love the emotion he shows when he scores a goal.

Daniel Briere.

He has Martin St. Louis written all over him.

Another guy I like watching is Dmitri Kalinin.

Hecht - He just seems to do everything you need to do to win. Crash the net, fight for the puck in the corner, good passing, and he can score too. Now if he could only stay healthy...

Afinogenov - I love watching him carry the puck, and he can score the highlight reel goals

Biron - As we have discussed in detail, he's not perfect, but he wins games, and I don't think he's reached his potential yet

Not trying to restart that debate... Please, if you don't like my opinion of Biron, take it to the endless goalie controversy thread!

Ales Kotalik

Has got probably the best shot on the team, will go into the corners and play physical, but man, when he gets on a hot streak, watch out! He's got the tools to be a 30-35 goal scorer, IMO.

I have no problem if Ales if your favourite Sabre, but we don't need this guy around IMO. The only way Ales would be a 30-35 goal scorer is if he played with Joe Sakic or Peter Forsberg. If he has any decent value I'd move him in a heartbeat.

The only time I didn't see Kotalik struggelling this past year was when he was on a line with Drury and I think the other winger was Briere.

The only time Briere played wing was with Pyatt and Drury.

And there's a lot of players who had the best games of their season when playing with Briere....

Favorite all time Sabre - Brad May (Never backed down from anyone. Never took a shift off.)

Currents in order - Chris Drury, Adam Mair, Daniel Briere, Brad Brown, Mika Noronen

Honorable mention to Hecht and Kalinin.

It's too hard to pick just one!!
