True. But E should've moved over to cover Boyle when it was clear that Abdelkader wouldn't be able to cover him.

Ericsson is about as good a defenseman as Leino is a forward. Christ almighty.

Good stuff from Howard there.

Ericsson shall no longer be referred to as "Big Rig" or "Big E". He will now be known as "The Philanthropist."

That started off a really crap PP, but D comes up and scores, nice!!

We have to get another before the intermission so we can control the 3rd our own way.

I was just about to say that was the worst PP I've ever seen. Then we score.

Pav from Z and Lids.....That's been a while.

Lidstrom got an assist on the play, but man did he look outmatched on for about 40-50 seconds. How the mighty have fallen.

The Rangers are getting some great chances. Luckily Howard seems to be up to the task.

It's so weird to see Lidstrom 3rd on the plus/minus list for the season.

His +/- was quite high until a recent slump where it has been steadily dropping.

Jimmy's been sharp. Keep it up

either Lidstrom is more banged up and injured then we are lead to believe, or he really is declining quite rapidly this season, which is unfortunate for us, but was bound to happen one day.

The only quality of his that seems to be still quite elite is his stick work (he is still really good at banging away the puck back into the neutral zone when opposing forwards try to chip it by him on a forecheck), but his other aspects do seem to be suffering quite a bit. His outlet passing (and everyother Dman on detroit as well) is not near what it use to be, and his speed is a lot slower where he is actually getting beat by a lot of forwards now.
