Tuomo Ruutu .

Between Malone and Penner for me easily. Clowe is the worst.

Clowe if we are talking salary, Hartnell if we aren't.

As-of-right-now:
1. Hartnell

2. Penner
3. Malone

4. Clowe

I like Clowe too, I think he'll put it all together someday, but that day is at least another season away, maybe 2.

You realize he has 19 points (6g, 13a) in his last 18 games right? And is currently on a 9 game point streak. Sure he started the season poorly, but right now he is playing quite well. And is not nearly as far behind the others as people here seem to think, especially considering his cap hit is around 700k less.

Right now Hartnell is the best out of those, Malone right after him, but the question was who would i like for the next couple of years : Penner.

Lets see what his numbers are at the end of the year, and yes, I am fully aware of this. I live in Los Gatos.

They are all secondary guys.

Better question is who has the better supporting cast. Guess you have to go with San Jose at this point.

Hartnell might be the least intelligent player I have ever seen. Throwing his glove at a player on a breakaway? Really?

Clowe is not a goal-scorer like the other three. He's a playmaker. 20-25 goals is what he provides. Hartnell and Malone can easily score 30 goals, as can Penner. Clowe won't ever score 30, but he's a far superior passer to the other three.

Considering the Sharks can't afford the slight jump in cap hit from Clowe to Hartnell, they would be fine with Clowe, even though Hartnell is definitely a better offensive player. Malone is a lesser player, more expensive, older, and is signed till 2015. No thank you. Penner might prove to be a better player than Clowe, but the difference won't be worth the 1M that San Jose saves.

It's a toss up between Hartnell and Malone with Hartnell edging it due to age and contract.

Hartnell, one of the few players in the league that I hate, but really wish was a Boston Bruin.

I don't see how someone can argue Penner is the worst out of the four but you are entitled to your opinion.

My rankings are:
1. Penner
2. Malone
3. Hartnell (close between him and Malone though)

4. Clowe
