Should the NHL change its trophy names?

Inspired by this thread, I decided to make a poll regarding the proposed changes to the league's award names, which would look like this (per Glen Healey):

Hart Trophy -> Gordie Howe Trophy
Art Ross Trophy -> Wayne Gretzky Trophy
Calder Trophy -> Mario Lemieux Trophy
James Norris Trophy -> Bobby Orr Trophy
Lady Byng Trophy -> Jean Beliveau Trophy
Jack Adams Trophy -> Scotty Bowman Trophy

How do you feel about the proposed changes?

Hell no. If you don't understand who they're named for, look them up. Those are some very important people in hockey history.

Hell no.

If they want to honour those players, name divisions after them or something.

Don't mess with the trophy names, that would be stupid. Don't spit in the face of the league's historical origins.

No. Add trophies if you want, or replace them. But the old ones should remain the same. Some traditions shouldn't be tinkered with. "The Bettman Cup???"

Absolutely not. Although Lady Byng should probably be renamed because it just doesn't sound like a great achievement for a hockey player.

Yes, we should name all of them The Rich Peverley Trophy.

But seriously, no, it's a stupid idea. I think that the names of the trophies have historical significance.

Definitely no. I'm not even a fan of some of the ridiculous lore about some old time players, but changing the names is just stupid.

This is almost as stupid as changing the division names back in the 90s.

I'd change the Messier Leadership Award.

Beliveau never won a Lady Byng, by the way.

Yeah, I found that a little odd, but I assume they think it's because of him being known as a gentleman I guess. Anyways, No way in hell should they screw around with any of the names. It's bad enough when they started naming arenas after sponsors, I'm surprised they haven't started naming the trophys sfter sponsors either. I can see it now, " The winner of the Trojan award for best defensive player" is....

No, but its kinda lame how only hardcore fans know who these trophys are named after.

Someone should start a thread based new awards the league should add. The Stevens Award for best +/- in the league. He was never a minus in his entire 20+ year career.

I agree with this, there needs to be another trophy for defenseman, as there is only one, there should be one for best offensive player and best overall player.
