Kings have sucked for so long, its hard to get up a good hate. Best I can do is apathy. But if you SOB's keep playing like a really good team, I might be convinced to hate you.
(Truth is, I loved Lombardi and was happy to see him get a shot again - expected him to do well. Rivalries between LA and the Sharks are so much more appealing than the Anaheim Ducks. Its been hard to hate Anaheim .. what with Disneyland across the street and all. Its going to be a lot easier to get agitated about the team that's being created by Dean with the defense you have, and an emerging offense with speed.)
I was thinking about the assistant coaches as well. Our players are not great defensively, but a decent system can make up for that. It's time to get an assistant coach that can run a defense on top of aquiring a defensemen. 5 on 5 we play the 'chaos in our own end till we get a lucky bounce' strategy. 4 on 4 you can just about guarentee we get scored on.
I really don't know what to even suggest at this point. I'm honestly missing Ron Wilsons defense first system at the moment.
You know, I remember in March of last year I was the one in a frenzy saying this team sucked and they were going to fail in the playoffs. I was right of course, but reading some of this thread made me remember those times.
This time though, I still am taking the glass is half full approach. Maybe the Sharks do need to fire the assistant coaches, or maybe McLellan himself, but that's going overboard I think. I am glad they are losing now rather than losing later on. I would much prefer them to be in a slump now, rather than being in a slump with me at Dave and Busters with Friends during Game 4 of the Divisional series watching the Sharks implode amongst themselves. Get it out of the system.
However, I will say that it hasn't been fun watching this team lately. It just feels like they move slowly, there isn't that much heart there, and the effort just feels lacking. Why not go out there and hit somebody. You hear about all these dirty hits in the league but I feel that the Sharks might be one of the worst in terms of really going after the other team. I'm not saying play dirty, but why not play more physical. Why not take a game misconduct here or there just to spice things up. Still though, it's early in the season and there isn't a reason to worry yet.
