doesn't surprise me. it's about time babs did. that last shootout attempt was pathetic with something he's suppose to excel at with his supposed skills. he's been disappointing this year so far. he's terrible along the boards( new Kopecky) gets knocked off the puck easily. can't hit and holds onto puck to long. he's almost useless right now.
I think the more Leino has time to think about what he wants to do while he is on the bench, the better. Maybe he'll understand (if he hasn't already) that even on an injury ridden team, he can't even make the starting lineup.
As for Abdelkader, they are mixing the lines. Best choice, no, but I'd rather do it against St. Louis than San Jose. i'm sure there will be some switching here and there during the game (depending on how it goes)
Btw, I thought Conklin was starting? This website is pretty accurate for starting goalies:
Anyways, I predict Red Wings will be slow in the 1st. They always need a wakeup call. This has pretty much been the trend this year. 1 period, they'll absolutely bomb, 1 period they'll dominate and 1 they will either play well or just run out of gas. You pick the order.
My prediction, 4-2 for the Wings (Zetterberg, Draper, Holmstrom and Stuart the scorers) and Ericsson will be on for both GA and will be to blame for at least 1 of them :p
This will be the first Wings game in a long time that I will be able to watch from start to finish... hopefully the guys play stellar tonight and trounce those pesky Blues.

Good minds think alike because not only do i agree with you but that shootout also pissed me off.
His game has been a god damn joke this year and its his own fault. Players are down, he has been given time to play with everyone who could get him to get going and he's failed. His skating is still crap, he gives up on plays and is weak on the puck. Id rather see what Tatar, Axelsson, Emmerton or even Evan Mcgrath can do at this point then what Leino is doing. Yea, its that bad that I gotta say Id rather see what Evan can do rather then Leino.

McGrath is a career AHL guy unless he all the sudden develops some real scoring touch.
I don't understand this must win now mentality, we've made the playoffs 18 straight seasons and won the cup 4 times if we can't be patient with the young kids who the hell can be.
This is a tough stretch for the wings with 4 games in 6 days, I don't care how they do it just win.

From a GM, "Detroit is the best team we've played this year. It's not even close. Their puck control is incredible...You have to hope your goalie has a great night to give you a chance."
Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom need to step it up. They have more talent on that line that most lines in the league, yet they're looking no better than Abdelkader's line tonight.
what a rubbish PP, I am already writing this period off. again we outshoot the opposition by far and yet no goal. They have had 3 shots....3 ****ing shots. Babcock better give them an ***-kicking at the intermission!
Actually, I think this is the best the Wings have looked at even strength since the 7-4 win against Anaheim. At least Conklin has legitimately made some sick saves, not just the make-me-look-better type of saves.
And Abdelkader is looking like a decent step-up for the 2nd line center position tonight.
