Overview
Extra InformationChris Osgood had made nine saves when Jamie Langenbrunner fired the puck into a nearly open net at 15:29 of the first period. Osgood gave up a bad goal to Johnny Oduya on a three-on-two at 17:25, with Oduya angling the puck in from the left side. After working the puck along the boards, Darren Helm took a shot on net that Kris Draper converted midway through the second period to cut New Jersey's lead in half. Rob Niedermayer crashed the crease to stuff in Vladimir Zharkov's rebound at 14:43, but Tomas Holmstrom replied on a power play with 29.1 seconds left when he deflected Brad Stuart's shot. Stuart opened the third period by racing into the crease to clear Jay Pandolfo's shot inches before it crossed the goal line. Patrick Eaves tipped Justin Abdelkader's shot at 9:30 of the third period to tie the game. The Wings outshot the Devils, 11-3, in the third period. Pavel Datsyuk was the only one of four Wings to score on Martin Brodeur in the shoot-out, with Zach Parise and Patrick Elias scoring for the Devils.

Mike Babcock: "I thought our guys battled and really tried to compete, so we battled ourselves back and got a point, and then Marty beat us in the shoot-out." ... Nicklas Lidstrom: "Once we settled down, I thought we came out with a lot more energy in that second and third period, and got a good push."

Eaves got sliced above his left eye and hurt his cheekbone when he slid into the boards late in the first period; he returned midway through the second period wearing a cage and promptly helped set up Draper's goal, and later scored the tying goal. "I got kind of bumped in from behind there, just a bad-luck play," Eaves said. "I came back and was able to contribute on the scoreboard a little bit, so that's nice for our line." Babcock said defenseman Brian Rafalski (back) remains day-to-day.

Really need 2 points tonight to keep pace to stay in the same neighbourhood as Nashville, and Dallas. Shut down gaborik, win the game. Good thing we have some Swedish guys that know what Lundqvist is all about, hopefully that pays off.

We surprisingly haven't lost a lot of ground in the conference yet (even though a win today would still leave us out of the top 8). Still though, this is a really important game today, especially since teams like St. Louis and Minnesota are coming on out of nowhere practically.

I have an eerie feeling Ozzy makes an appearance tonight. Would rather have Pav and/or Lidstrom make an appearance. Go Wings.

If you're right, we should just kiss this season goodbye, cause there is no way in god's twisted little universe that would bode well for the future

Too many games left for that kind of talk sir. If we can't get going for those 6 division games coming up her in the rest of December then I might agree w/ you. Until then....

Go Wings.

Here's to a great game red wing Fans!

My #1 concern as a Ranger's Fan is Zetterberg shutting down Gaborik....your Hank is just a shutdown machine.

This should be a relatively easier game for the Wings. Yes, they played yesterday but they seem to understand that playing like they did in the 3rd against NJ is the only way to go if they want a shot at the playoffs. If you look at the interviews (if they mean it or not) they know they are not playing well enough and they have improve.

Anyways, Let's Go Red Wings, for **** sake!

I got it, I got it......

Drew Miller shuts out The NYR because his big brother is a goalie and that makes him better than Ozzy and Howard by default.

Homer scores 3 times and 2 are taken away because of the "intent to blow" rule.

1-0 Wings

The Wings should just have Stuart and Lidstrom stand in the crease and swat out pucks. They did a pretty good job of it yesterday.

Good luck tonight from a Devils fan. I'd seriously love it if you smashed our most hated rival into dust.

On another note, what an amazing game yesterday. Both teams deserved a point. You guys are very banged up like us and still you are dangerous. Too much talent over in Detroit to not make the playoffs. Well played game. We don't see you guys again until next year. Take care Redwings fans.
