Hey all, my aunt and her husband are looking into a pizza franchise in Edmonton to get in to. Right now it seems like it might be a Poppa John's but they're keeping their options open, so what's the preferred pizza place around here? I've only ever had Pizza 73 in the city, so my palette is neglected. What's the worst, what's the best etc.
I remember trying pizza from them and not liking it at all. But that was years ago. Decided to get some pizza from 'em after all these years just this past summer and I'm glad I did. They are pretty damn good now. I recommend their stuffed crust pizza. It's like a thick stick of mozzarella in the crust and if heated properly, it's perfectly stringy. I seriously would buy their pizza JUST for the stuffed crust! And the Parmesan they sprinkle on top of the pizza is a delicious. I think they have a deal, 2 medium stuffed crusts for $24 which is on par with the other pizza chains you listed - Pizza 73, I think, has a 2 for 1 deal, so 2 medium pizzas (with no stuffed crust) for $23 or so. Also, you can walk in and pick up their "ready made" pizzas from as low as $5 for a medium cheese pizza. Excellent if you want pizza without waiting and at a real good price. It tastes decent too, especially the Canadian which I think is $8-9.
I used to go to Pizza Hut and Pizza 73 a ton even though I never really liked them. They were just conveniently close to my place. Real greasy and lacking in taste. Boy, I'm friggen glad I rediscovered Little Caesar. It's only a 3-minute drive from my place too!
Panago I haven't had in forever so I can't comment. Never tried Papa John's, and I haven't gone to Dominos since I was 10 haha.

I can say the worst pizza out of the options listed is Domino's.
I've tried it twice in the last couple months (I really wanted the bread sticks with the meat sauce ) and both times I found the pizza really tasteless/crummy. I tend to try a location or place at least twice before I say no to any more and I won't get Domino's in the University area anymore. I assume it might be the location I get it sent from, because I do remember Domino pizza being ok in the past, but not where I live.
Pizza 73 is great for one reason. Online ordering. I know other places have that now as well, but there's something so incredibly satisfying with not having to talk to someone to order the food. I think there's books written about social deficiencies like the glow I feel when I don't have to talk to a worker, but man, it's great.
I think Dominos makes the best pie in general. Though Panagos BBQ chicken is incredible. I order the most from Pizza 73 however. I feel like I get better bang for the buck but also because they are open later than most other places, plus I like wings, which they have.
I heard Kramer is looking for a partner. Something where you can make your own pie? You flip flip it, pound the dough, put your own sauce and toppings on and place it in the oven. Seems like a good idea to me personally.
But honestly, my new favorite joint is Papa Murphy's. They get it ready for you and you just have to put it in the oven yourself when you wanna eat.
