Overview
Extra Information Just keep shooting. That's the mind-set of Red Wings defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom, who has not scored a goal in his past 28 games, including Friday's 3-2 overtime win against the Ducks.
Lidstrom hit two posts in a 1-0 loss to the Blues on Wednesday, so he has come close to breaking his slump. "You have to just continue to shoot the puck," Lidstrom said. "Eventually it's going to go in. When we are creating traffic, we're going to create some good bounces, too. You just have to continue to shoot the puck."
Lidstrom couldn't remember the last time he had gone through such a drought, but he hasn't panicked. "When you've been in the league a long time, you know you can't give up on shooting the puck," he said. "Whether it's a tip-in or a guy being there for rebounds, you gotta continue to shoot that puck.
"You hope you can help a team out offensively, getting some goals. That's why you can't shy away from shooting it."
Lidstrom has one goal and 10 assists in 31 games and is plus-six. He hasn't scored fewer than seven goals in a season and has hit double-digits in goals scored in 15 of his previous 17 seasons. Coach Mike Babcock isn't worried about Lidstrom's lack of scoring: "Nick's a pretty good player, and good players normally find their way."
A POSITIVE LINE: The line of Kris Draper, Darren Helm and Patrick Eaves has been a positive one this season. Eaves has a plus-six rating, tops on the team. He also has chipped in two goals and six assists in 21 games. Draper, a minus-13 last season, is plus-five, and Helm plus-one.
"Draper, Helm and Eaves have given us a real good line, and a line with energy," said Babcock. "Eaves kind of looks after those guys. Draper and Helmer are flying all over the place. Eaves is just a guy who seems to finish checks, be in the right spots.
"He's a concussion guy, too. At one time, he was a 20-goal scorer. We're just comfortable with the process he's in right now and getting better. And who knows? Maybe he'll score again in his career, but right now he's doing a real good job for us."
INJURY UPDATE: Jason Williams, recovering from a broken right fibula, had his cast removed Monday. He's hoping to be off crutches in a few days and into a walking boot soon.
Chris Osgood is starting in goal.

I'm hoping the roads keep improving- I get out of work at 8 and have to hobble to my car and drive home as fast as the roads allow!

I think the Wings are gonna get it together tonight and pull out a win. Ozzie needs this for confidence.
Players I'm looking for to step up...
Abdelkader
Ericsson (as usuall)
Helm
The young guys need to start taking the reigns during this transition.

I've come to terms with another fact. That this team will not be and can't be a powerhouse forever. It's funny to read some of those posts here. 18 years is a good run is all I'm saying.
But back on topic. Hope this team will show us some better play than they did last night.

Everyone can fall down on the ice for all I care, this team goes only as far as those two take it, period.

Fun facts that pretty much sum up the Wings' situation thus far:
The Wings have blocked the fewest shots in the league.
The Wings have missed the net with the most shots in the league.
The Wings have the 4th most giveaways in the league.
Tells you everything you need to know. They're not forcing the opposition to the outside. They're settling for bad shots where they don't have any net to look at, and instead of putting those pucks on the goalie's pads where they could pick up rebounds, they're trying for the top shelf and missing badly. And they're just not taking care of the puck, making sloppy neutral zone and outlet passes.
They'll find that more pucks are going in for them when they actually force the goalie to stop the puck, and they'll find that they take fewer penalties and give up fewer odd man rushes if they stop turning the puck over and block more shots.
Gotta be better on faceoffs too. -8 and -6 their last 2 games. If they're going to stay afloat with these lineups they'll need every advantage they can get, and that means winning faceoffs.

When was the last time you DID have a good feeling going into a Wings game? It's been a while for me. Sometimes they win, sometimes they lose, but you don't have that feeling like they're supposed to win anymore.
