No Dubnyk went down.

Per mirtle's twitter: Oilers recall goaltender Bryan Pitton from Springfield (AHL). Dubnyk goes down

I guess Quinn's riding Deslauriers until Khabi gets back then.

Does Springfield have any games between now and Tuesday? Maybe he's going down to get some game action and then swap again to back JD up before the next game.

They don't want DD getting rusty on the bench, they will get him some games in the A, and recall him next week if Khabi is still off the radar IMO.

its a good plan, and its good for springfield too which is something we should humbly consider... if Pitton winds up seeing a game due to unexpected circumstances (snow storm preventing recall of dubnyk, pre-game warm up injury to JDD, forced to start Pitton) ... then we are in trouble, cause that guy is not ready for NHL action.

Im glad this is happening. If the plan is to play JDD like he has an expiry date, than no sense letting Devan rot on the bench when he can get some games in. Hell, I'd even call up Pitton if this was the case.

Im sure we'll see Devan back by Tuesday.
Guess we're gonna ride JDD to the Leafs/Flames back-to-back... or maybe he'll play both those games as well.

He's probably just going down so he can get some play-action in between now and Tuesday. Springfield plays tonight at 5.

If that happens, I'm definitely hitting record on the DVR.

I would think that this is to help out the Falcons more than anything. Before DD was recalled, the Falcons were competing for the conference. Now they've completely tanked. They haven't won a single game (of 8 games) since he's been called up.

This does make sense for DD, but can Deslauriers honestly handle the workload? How many games has he played now, 8 in a row? Maybe I'm getting worried because I know nothing about Pitton.

Dubnyk 7 goals on 26 shots wow Im glad he didnt do that with his first start in Edmonton. I didnt see the game but not a great start but Springfield is just a terrible team right now getting blown out a lot

Springfield is absolutely brutal this year. A quick search to the AHL website *yawns* - boring I know - and you will find that they are at the bottom of the league in almost every statistical category, and are last place in their conference. Lousy team, and it doesn't look much different with Rob Daum as head coach. Everyone thought Truitt was the problem and to a point, maybe he was. But still, that roster is riddled with pretty crummy talent.

saw this coming i guess because Springfield needs help. When the Oilers got injured they pretty much pillaged the entire farm team lol

I think the more likely scenario is that Quinn has decided that JDD is his guy and that theres no need for Dubnyk to be here.

They were 3 points out of 1st in the conference before Dubnyk was recalled. Of course, he didn't help them much tonight, letting in 7 goals. But I think that should be taken into consideration.

They prolly dont want Dubnyk to get rusty and lose development time. I was reading an article on Dubs today: http://oilersnation.com/2009/12/12/t...e-devan-dubnyk

Check these numbers out for springfield:

Dubnyk: 18GP, 9-8-1, .924 SV%
Others: 13GP, 1-8-1, .874 SV%

They need him in Springfield, and apparently, hes pretty damn good.

WRONG! (2) Games is not alot of games to be blown out, check you facts first! Springfield has been in almost every game except for these last two,and just can't get over the hump,it just reinforces how important Devan Dubnyk is to the Falcons and how much the recalls to Edmonton hurt their momentum. Before Devan Dubnyk was recalled to Edmonton Springfield had not lost in regulation at home!

WRONG! Get ''your'' facts straight, Charles Linglet,Colton Fretter, and Chad Wiseman are in the top 35 in the entire AHL for scoring (Points)
Charles Linglet is in 4th for Total Points in the AHL this season,Colton Fretter is in 15th in Total Points in the AHL this season,Chad Wiseman is in 35th for Total Points in the AHL this season

Colton Fretter is in 6th for goals this season in the AHL with 13..........
Chris Minard has 9 goals in 11 games played and was the leading scorer for Springfield before he went down with an injury concussion and hasn't seen any action since and was a +6 at that time also............

In 2008/2009 the Springfield Falcons had 191 Goals in 80 Games
In 2009/2010 the Springfield Falcons have 74 Goals in 29 Games

The Springfield Falcons lost 69 Goals from Ryan Potulny,Ryan Stone, and Gilbert Brule who are now in Edmonton, and this season only have 9 returning players from last season. This team isn't as bad as you make them out to be,and Rob Daum gets the most out of them every night and he won't accept anything but their best effort as he holds each player accountable unlike Jeff Truitt,Daum also coaches, after every shift you will see either Daum or Assistant Coach Gerry Fleming working up and down the bench coaching their players for the entire game, you didn't see any of that with Truitt,Stats don't tell the whole story!
