Lousy team, and it doesn't look much different with Rob Daum as head coach. Everyone thought Truitt was the problem and to a point, maybe he was. But still, that roster is riddled with pretty crummy talent.
They have some problems for sure - especially lately. Though until just recently we had half of their team up with the Oilers (Chorney, Potulny, McDonald, O'Marra, Reddox, Arsene, Dubnyk...) plus their top goal scorer (Chris Minard who had 9 goals in 11 games) has been out with a concussion for some time now. But it seems fairly clear from your post that you do not really follow them very closely. A quick look at the standings does not tell you everything. It was not long ago they were a few points out of 1st in the division.

Check these numbers out for springfield:

Dubnyk: 18GP, 9-8-1, .924 SV%
Others: 13GP, 1-8-1, .874 SV%

They need him in Springfield, and apparently, hes pretty damn good.
The more Devan Dubnyk plays the better he is,only playing 1 or 2 games since being recalled in November isn't good for him,he is an everyday player, and would play an entire season without getting spelled if you let him.Was he rusty last night? You bet,but 3 breakaways in a row and numerous odd man rushes by Portland last night weren't the fault of Dubnyk,it was the shabby Defense in front of him last night that is to blame.Right now the best Defensemen for the Springfield Falcons are a pair of ''ROOKIES'' Alex Plante & Johan Motin. Chris Armstrong was solid on Defense before his injury (Detached Retina) which he just had sucessful surgery on Friday for.

The Falcons were a better Defensive team before the recalls, and even solid Defenseman Dean Arsene (Captain) isn't the player he was before the callup,i imagine the Falcons will get better hopefully sooner than later,I believe Daum will right the ship barring injuries & Callups.

By the way Devan Dubnyk was recalled to Edmonton after last night's game, now you have 3 goaltenders! Springfield has 1 goalie at this time Aaron Sorochan but word is one is on his way as we post from another source not affiliated with Edmonton......... Stay Tuned,The Plot Thickens!
