We appreciate the enthusiasm, however you only have two options

1. Jump on the Fail Train as we steam out of the station or...
2. Leave

Agree I don't advocate "Tanking" per se, but if we just stay on this current path it's bound to happen.

Not at all. I mean even if we pick at #5 and take someone like Gormley would be OK but I would give my left testicle for 1 of the big 3.

Neither will I unfortunately the way we are playing we dont have to tank to get a top-5 pick.

2 years of epic sucking could mean 10 years of cup chasing afterwards. Can we endure 2 awful years??

I just hope Sather doesnt chase mediocrity again.

Kabanov may fall out of the top 5.

I also think that Fowler is going to kill it at the WJC's like he did at the U-18's last year and solidify himself in the top 3.

Wait until around Feb-March when we will get fed Taylor Hall's name. I doubt he'll be ours. I can already see him in a 'Canes uni.

Also, I hope Sather makes absolutely no moves, unless the names Rozsival or Drury are involved. Keep Dubinsky and Callahan, don't trade them away for some bum that will "help" us squeeze into the playoffs and make about as much noise as a peep in the 1st round.

I'm on board.
In today's NHL the only way to win a up is to draft a franchise player (or players) and then form an identity by building around him.
You can't buy and trade your way to success anymore.

I'll ride the Fail train if it's next stop is Hall City.

I'd still rather have Seguin over hall. 20 more points than anyone else on his team. He's carrying Plymouth on his back.

Hall only has 7 more points than Seguin in 5 more games on a ridiculously stacked team. I'll go on record right now: Seguin will be the better player in the long run.

Guys...perfect examples of when it's good to tank:

1997 San Antonio Spurs and 1997 Boston Bruins

1997 Spurs were coming off a slew of 50-plus win seasons but just couldnt get out of the west in the playoffs. In 1996 David Robinson and Sean Elliot carried them to a 59-win season, but in 1997 Robinson blew out his knee (i think) and they had the 2nd worst record in the NBA -- like 20-62.

Hence, the get awarded the top pick in the draft -- Tim Duncan, and became NBA elite with 3 titles for the next 10 years

The 1996 Bruins were an above-average 40-plus wins and 90-plus points team, but in 1997 Bourque was hurt, the goalies sucked and Neely retired. They traded everybody -- Oates, Ranford, Tocchet etc.

The reward was Joe Thornton, and in 1998 the Bruins went back to the playoffs and had great regular seasons fueled by Big Joe.

It's not Joe's fault that the Bruins were idiots for trading one of the best 5 players in all of hockey

So while tanking or having a fire sale is a miserable, short-term experience, we have to accept that our organization is not run like Detroit or NJ, and that getting a franchise type-player may be a remedy to all these years of futility.

Correct me if Im wrong, but havent the Rangers picked in the top-5 only twice since 1970?

That's crazy. The days of hoping to snag a star between 10-20 are over. We need to tank it and get the franchise player who always eluded us (except Leetch)

Even if we don't get the #1 pick, Seugin or Kabanov would be just as good a pick.

Taylor could be a start....

I acutaly am in love with this kid... he is like jeff carter and has a wicked wrister...

Other than Hall, this years daft is pretty deep, not as intense as last years, but still pretty solid.

If the rangers continue to suck i hope we bomb completely to get the number 2 or 3 pick.

Either way, a bottom 3 finish will guarantee us a top-3 pick, no?

You have to admit that this franchise will not go wrong either way. The post-lockout NHL is 1000 times more friendly to teenage player development than in the past. As long as the Rangers dont have a Muckler or Trottier around to stifle their development, i think Seguin, Hall and Kabanov will all be 40-80 guys (at least) by their third year

No chance we come close to snagging Hall, as much as I'd love it.

We will lose in the 1st round and pick in the late-teens, continuing the perpetual cycle of mediocrity the Rangers seem to enjoy so.
