Carey Price Appreciation Thread

With the disappearance of the Goalie controversy thread and Carey stepping it up big time. Here is a thread dedicated to your future franchise goalie Mr. Price:

These are the only goalies who have had a higher save percentage than Mr. Price while playing the same or more games than he has:
Ryan Miller
Miikka Kirprusoff
Evgeni Nabakov
Martin Brodeur
Roberto Luongo
Tomas Vokoun
Ilya Bryzgalov
Craig Anderson
Henrik Lundqvist

Thats pretty elite company: Carey is currently 21st in terms of Sv pct at .913 but this is impressive considering he was starting November well under .900!

Keep it up Mr. 5th overall ;p

Edit: Please don't turn this into a goalie controversy thread...

Looking at his game log he must have a save % close to .930 from November 5 on.

He's incredible and a legit no1 goalie.

From the TSN.ca article after tonights win against Philly:

In his past 13 starts since, Price has a 7-4-2 record with a .932 save percentage and 1.96 goals against average, and the Canadiens scored a total of two goals in his four regulation losses over that stretch.

Incredible stats, and 13 games is a pretty good sample. He's been as consistent as anyone, CAREY PRICE is awesome.

Wow! I guess this supports my estimate

Its such a "feel good" story to see him doing well after his struggles last year and earlier this year. Its harder and harder for my Price bashing friends to attack him which is great.

He's back. Don't know what it is, but this guy doesn't have the crap he had last year.
Now we can laugh at the disgrace of the 100th year.

Thats cause he's playing great you...ill keep that one for me

Not even on these boards would you find someone bashing his play right now.

If your friends were Price haters thats because they had a reason because he was terrible

Habs fans pissed at a piss poor performance =/= Bashers

thats true but one thing i really noticed this year is how much better he sees the puck through traffic and how quick he smothers the puck compared to last year when a lot of posters were saying he lacks focus and concentration because he coudln't track the puck with screens and traffic

i believe him standing up a lot has to do with tracking it now because he is so tall its easy for him to keep track and make good positional saves and control rebounds

I don't know about that, they often completely defy logic and common sense. Theres one who even blamed it when we lost to Nashville. He allowed two goals on 55 shots and Habs scored none. Thats when I lost all hope. Then theres my brother (who's "also" a Pens fan, shameful for my family I know) who thinks he's a cokehead or something

No trust me, they hate Price with a burning passion. The first one still refuses to give him credit saying the shots he receives are "weak" most of the time.

Different goalie ever since Halaks agent tweaked him

Seriously, I like everything about Carey's game right now...he's playing with confidence, and as a fan I no longer cringe on every shot against.

Hopefully the 100 year anniversary celebration helped him understand how important this team is to the fans and what it means to be proud of the CH.

According to Eliotte Friedman's blog(which you should read, it's great), I'll try to find the link tomorrow, before the Centennial game, Roy talked to Price and told him not to worry about the fans and the booing telling him "They booed me after winning two Stanley Cups here".

I think the biggest difference we're seeing in Price this year is his maturity. When Halak was getting a lot of stars, Price was a complete professional, waited until he had his opportunity and has played great since. Go Carey.

Ron Fournier was hilarious tonight. There was this Halak fanboy who called and said that Price was overrated and that he wasn't impressive tonight. Ron answered: "Ohh! So you're a goalie coach?? No? you're a goalie then? neither? So how do you know all that stuff? Wait, you're saying that he doesn't have the right mindset? When's the last time you talked to him?" The caller was just silent after that.

It helps a bit when you have Savard, Robinson and Lapointe playing in front of you

I've always been a supporter of Price, even through everything last year and knew he would bounce back. He is not disappointing! He's been lights out for us since November started (well, really since Halak's agent made those twitter comments) and he hasn't turned back since!
