I like Tatar and Ferraro alot. This is hard for me. I'm just gonna list my favorites... sorry.

Ferraro
Tatar-tot
(Coetzee)
(A2)
Nyquist

I know two shouldn't be on this list, but I never pass up a chance to pimp those two.

Actually, I was thinking more of a Tatar-Ferraro-Nestrasil (for size) line

I would be very surprised if any list didn't have Tatar ranked first.

Tatar is a freakish talent. Other than size (which me makes up for), he's virtually the complete package. Nice 3 game stretch he just had, SO winner on Friday, lone goal on Saturday, G+2A today.

Interesting that the Wings took Ferraro first, ahead of Tatar. I guess there was still doubts surrounding Tatar and the Wings probably figured they needed to take Ferraro at 32 and Tatar would probably still be avaialble at 59 (I think). I bet a few teams would love to have their 2nd rounders again. He'd be on a lot of NHL teams right now IMO.

Ferraro is a goal scorer and a real hard worker, defence needs work though. His production this season is like that of a late draft pick, so disappointing. He'll turn it around though.

Nyquist is shaping up to be another Datsyuk/Hank, he's a beauty. Mursak is a bit of a sniper, a top 6 winger.

If I HAD to:

Tatar
Nyquist
Mursak
Ferraro

But a heck of a lot can and will change over the next few years. I bet if someone bumped this in 5 years time we might look foolish!

Tatar
Nyquist
Ferraro

for me as well. Wish I could be different, but Tatar is looking like such a beauty, and Gustav continues to get better...

Boy, there isn't enough faith in Ferraro around here. I believe he WILL be the best, but maybe not for skill or scoring. I just got a feeling he's going to bloom into something incredible down the line. Maybe he will have that ability to motivate his team and carry them on his shoulders. I just got a feeling.
But then again, yeah, I could be way off too.

About him being drafted before Tatar, I don't know exactly what you meant... but if I understood your correctly you think the Wings had doubts about Tatar because of his size. I don't think its because they were concerned about Tatar's size. I think its because they had a feeling he'd still be there at that spot but Ferraro wouldn't.

Keeping to the title of the thread I will have to say

Tatar
Nyquist
Ferraro

Just because I have not seen Ferraro play a lot. It is possible that he is better. But apart from this list there are other players who are producing and should be the future of the Red Wings. Those being

Mursak
Axelsson
Emmerton
Jeremy Williams
Ritola (maybe?)

Kindl and Kolosov also have potential.

Anyone able to give me the lowdown on Nyquist? I'm not up to date on the prospects, although I've been keeping an eye on Tatar.

Definitely will be watching some Czech WJC games!

Tatar is going to absolute tear up this tournament with Slovakia. After last year's tourny, this should be his coming out party.

Which players are you going to be watching for the Czech Republic?

My favorites in order
Mursak
Tatar
Nyquist
Ferraro
Nestrasil
Axelsson (I still have hope!)
Pare

I really cannot tell you who is going to be the best because I haven't even seen Ferraro, Nestrasil, or Nyquist. Mursak and Tatar are both dominating the AHL right now and could be our next Z and D or Fil and Huds. Pare is a personal favorite, he just is so smart. When nothing seems to be going right for the Griffins it always seems like Pare breaks the trend and creates a scoring chance out of nowhere. And I do not want to talk about Axelsson right now lol. I am going to have to calm down about that.

Sorry, meant Slovakia because of Tatar. Guess I'm still in the Cold War .

Just a wild-ass guess based on nothing at all....

Tatar
Nyquist
Ferraro

Ferraro is coming off an injury so it's really tough to compare him to two guys who are dominating at their current level. I think the AHL is better than NCAA so that's why I give Tatar the nod.

I saw Tatar the past weekend in Toronto and he was impressive. He's smallish and will have to adjust to the rigors of playing against much bigger players but that seems to be the norm for Red Wings players. A classic skill prospect that the Wings consistently draft year after year. I was puzzled when I heard the Wings signed him on early to play in the AHL at 18 years of age versus playing in the OHL. The Red Wings ususally take their time developing their players but after seeing him on the weekend he certainly didn't look out of place. It wouldn't surprise me if he ends up being the leading scorer for the Griffins by year's end.
Havn't seen Ferraro or Nyquist but if they are anything like Tatar, the Wings have potential top 6 players on the horizon to replace Zetterberg and Datsyuk once they start to slow down.

Ferraro was drafted around the same position as Tatar and Nyquist is tearing up the NCAA.
